VoIP anyone???

I posted in kitchen sink but was told I should post here too.


Anyone go to a VoIP phone system for their home instead of getting raped by SBC??? I'm thinking of doing this and would like some feedback. i was thinking of going with Lingo.

the topic in KS has pretty much been hashed out already. for making 'free' calls (or cheap calls) that bypass the existing infrastructure/rate system, it's OK... but you get what you pay for.

the telcos have pretty much done all they can to make wireline phone calls reliable and error-free, what with digital switching, automatic load balancing and call routing, etc.

However, the Internet is a much more chaotic beast, and so the tech to do VoIP at the same quality as wireline is a ways off yet.
