View Full Version : Sky Blue: What Akira was to a Future Gen-X Riders
I dunno about you, but the first time I saw Akira all I could think of was how cool it would be to have his bike.

Perhaps Sky Blue (http://www.skybluethemovie.com) will have the same effect on future riders?

Either way, can't wait till this one hits the big screen--saw a preview of it tonight before watching "The House of Flying Daggers" (which I give :thumbup :thumbup).
--edit--
Website says that there is a "Limited Engagement" showing at the Shattuck Theater in Berkeley on January 21. Anybody down to go?

I actually own the Korean version of this movie, which in its original title was called "Wonderful Days" Its been out for sometime now, probably the better part of 2 years. Its really cool, but there isnt as much bike emphasis as there is in Akira. If you are lucky you should still be able to find a dvd copy of it in chinatown, if not there try ebay. I dont quite understand why they changed the title to Sky Blue though, Wonderful Days fit the theme of the movie so much better.

Does anybody remember the old captain america they used to play on tv, when he'd bust out of the back of his van on his "sportbiked out" dirt bike? That was part of it for me, and street hawk, the tv show, then tron, then akira and robotech.

That looks sick! I'm gonna bit torrent that now since I cannot afford anything, including gas since I just bought an R6. I have the limited edition of Akira, I think i'm gonna put that in tonight. Thanks for the heads up.

I thought that looked familiar.
If you watch the trailer, the engine note sounds like an I4--you think they would have come up with something different in the future :rolleyes :nerd :laughing

I have the feeling that even when we go to hydrogen fuel-cell or electric bikes... folks are gonna figure out how to get an exhaust/rev note out of them.

Even if you need to have speakers for it...hmm...what do I feel like today; I4 or Vtwin??

I think you could just leave it on the Vtwin, no need to be able to switch to anything else! I don't miss riding a Vtwin, but I miss the sound!!

Movie looks like it could be cool. One more pic of the bikes below. Probably have to go see it during its limited engagement. The new Appleseed was pretty kick-ass when I saw it last week, so hopefully this will continue the trend.
