Do you guys think it is safe to travel with a disc still in my slot loading iBook? Should I always eject any discs before stuffing my iBook in my messenger bag?

TIA!

M-

Never heard of an optical drive getting screwed up because a disk was left in.

However, I WOULD recommend that you let the HARD DRIVE spin down completely before packing it up and running... when I did warranty repair, that was BY FAR the most prevalent killer of hard drives in laptops.

rough handling while drives are still spinning and read/write heads are out over the platters = head crashes and controller arm failures.

:cool

Thanks deaconblues!

Just got this thing a minute ago. I think I am a convert.

I see a G4 Powerbook driving a 23" LCD monitor in my future.

Well, someday.

I've had my iBook for a couple years. Always leave disks in there. Never had a prob.

But do let it get into sleep mode before throwing it into a bag.

I have had my iBook for a while, leaving a CD in it is no problem. I know its true, a fellow at MacWorld told me so. Welcome to the Mac fold.

It'll be fine. I used to always leave DVD's in my powerbook. never shut the thing off either, always kept it in sleep mode when transporting it.
