Just wondering where to dispose of the following items:
Coolant
Gasoline
Oil
Brake Fluid
Batteries
An FAQ would be nice with examples of locations in the Peninsula, SF, East Bay, North Bay, South Bay. :)

Actually, most of the oil changer places and auto parts stores will take it, and I know some bay area counties will let you leave it at the curb on trash days as long as its in a container with a screw top, like some milk jugs.
I would call your local trash company, they all have the information you seek, and all counties seem to have a different idea of what to do with it.

The recycle center next to the Palo Alto landfill takes batteries, oil, oil filters and coolant.
They also take old fuel and other hazardous chemicals on the first Saturday of each month.
That covers most of the crap I've got in the garage -- but I'm not 100 percent sure about brake fluid and fork oil.
Elskipador's link rules -- I wish I knew about the site last year.

I think most (all?) counties have a facility for "household hazardous waste." Contra Costa residents can take stuff to the facility at 4797 Imhoff Place, at the northeast corner of the 4/680 junction. I have disposed of coolant, brake fluid, oil, and batteries there.
You should be able to find a facility near you in the phone book (try "waste disposal" in the yellow pages), by calling your trash collection company, or Googling <county name> "household hazardous waste".

Racetracks have oil recycling dumps and usually brake fluid dumps too. All my used oil and brake fluid go with me to the track where it gets dumped into the proper tanks.
Old gasoline gets recycled through the KLX110s or the lawnmower/rototiller/chainsaw, etc.

old gas ==> minivan (it'll burn it.) :D
Old oil, any type ==> pep Boys (they'll also take brake fluid I believe)
Old Batteries ==> Sears Auto Center
