I think This may actually be legit so take a minute and read on.
The site is www.freeminimacs.com and it's one of those fill out the survey and get a free whatever things.
There are 3 requirements:
1. Verify your email (use your junk email address. they send you a link, you click on it and that's it)
2. Complete one of their offers (I signed up for this traveler advantage thing because it was only $1. Just cancel your membership later)
3. Refer 10 friends who all complete one offer (this is where you guys come in)
I think it's worth a shot. If you don't want a mini mac you can always sell it.
So here's the link:
http://www.FreeMiniMacs.com/?r=14105721
Please use it so I get credit for the referal.
Also, please pm me if you complete it and once I get 10 pm's who ever is next can post their personal link and so on.
This will be awesome if it works. But if not, hey, it was only a dollar.

I think This may actually be legitIt may be but is it worth it? The last thing this world needs is more spam. You might want to check out this article about the free ipod site.

It seems legit, but not hassle free.

(BTW there's even http://www.freecondoms.com/ for thoes who can't figure out how to find a planned parenthood in their town.):rolleyes

Yeah I realize there's a lot of crap out there that is way too big a hassle but seriously this thing took about 5 minutes. And it's a friggin dollar. It's not a conspiracy, and it's not hard to cancel an online subscription. But if you're not into it that's cool, just move on.
And regarding spam, do like I said and use your junk email address. Or just create a dummy email, which takes only a few minutes.

To joojoo's credit he posted 2 links with the referral seperate. The people I hate are the ones doing the advertising and only posting a link to their referral, that would be spam.

any 'get referrals, get (insert device)' promotion is a SCAM.

there's no way they're going to buy a $500 computer for every person who turns in 10 referrals.

instead they put you on a waiting list.

the first folks in the door might get a couple... but those are the 'teasers' - the people that get paid so as to act as free publicity.

once the scam gets rolling, the number of freebie systems going out will taper drastically, and at some point they'll shut it down w/o giving out anything to the thousands of people 'waiting' for their free system.

I hate to justify this with a reply but I can't help it. People who speak in absolutes never cease to amaze me. I imagine that the narcissistic attitude required to make such blanket statements must be learned from years of practice. Was it a previous experience that caused this? Have you taken the time as I did to research your claims? If so you’d know that companies who perform this sort of service such as Gratis Internet are not shutting down but are actually growing. Reason? They’re making money.
No one I accociate with would be dumb enough to assume that you are receiving free merchandise here. You’re allowing youself and your email account to be bombarded with loads of advertisments. What’s more, you then try and pimp your friends to do the same effectivly doing a significant ammount of advertizing “work” for these companies.
This doesn’t happen to be a problem for me. Screw it, it’s worth a shot.
Shall we move along from the conspiracy theories please and allow people to make up their own minds?

Ah, but i HAVE done such research. Remember the free ipod deal?

it's a pyramid scheme, only instead of money, you're getting 'paid' in merchandise.

what, did you think someone would pay you $500 to deluge you with adverts? they can do that for a lot less, simply by buying your name as part of an aggregate "interested in X" marketing list.

So, why then would anyone give you something worth that same amount?

Oh wait, it's the referrals.

ok, mathematically, if we all did this, how long would it take before the referral lists start to overlap? 1 iteration, 2, 3, 10? Not too hard to figure out, it's exponential, powers of ten. as in 10, 100, 1000, 10000, 100000, etc. Theoretically, if word spreads quickly enough, I could have one, ten, a hundred million names within a couple of days.

It quickly reaches a stage where the promoter couldn't BUY enough merchandise to satisfy all the people who meet the requirements. So they get put on a waiting list... and as folks get 'paid', the names below theirs on the list get bumped up. it'll only bump so far, right around the time that very few 'unique' names are being referred. at that point, the promoter has what they wanted - everyone's name on their mailing list. that's when they cut and run.

the fact that you would leap to defend something of this nature seems to indicate you have more to lose by someone challenging the system, than by you do in not promoting the system. conspiracy? possibly, if one equates spam with conspiracies. I don't, to me spam = cheap marketing.

TANSTAAFL.

(hey, if you think i'm ranting without basis, check this out. (http://www.uglx.org/scam2) Seems I'm not the only one who sees what's really going on.)

Your point is well taken deacon. What say we agree to disagree? I would like to note however that I don't usually go for these things. Point of fact, I never have before this one. But this one's going well so far.
I'm sent an update each time my account status changes, and these emails contain no advertisments.
They've already notified me that I've met the requirements and it also gives me a list of people whom I've referred including their status.

That's cool. However, as long as you're adverting these types of things, keep in mind two things:

Unless you actually refer them and claim credit, anyone else who 'joins in' will be competing with you for that product (they're a different 'branch' of the tree) AND you may not be eligible if either you or the people you refer do not actually participate in the promotions. So read the fine print, and realize that (especially on the Intarweb, where us old fogeys HAVE 'seen it all before' and hold quite vocal opinions on everything) posts such as this won't always be well received.

Personally... I want a mini Mac too. But, I figure I can save up for one by watching my spending for, oh, three months or so. At that rate, you might get one before I do, or you might not.
