To a point i agree... in 1/4 mile racing all components are factors, from the weight, to the 60ft time, to the dialing etc....

i was running sac last year on my gsxr1k, took the wrx there a few times too.

A few years back the garage had decent muscle...I've shown the outgoing muscle already, so here's a change.

I rapped the viper after this into a curb...and did a nice $8K in damage. the guy who bought this one sent it off Thill into the weeds and destroyed it. Neat cars, but a mess to drive.

That Cobra was fast and fun being a convertible, but the suspension on those cars sucks bawls!

It was an amazing car. If you ever get a look underneath it, you can see how well made a car it was and how far ahead of the times it was, too.

A-sym double A-arms in each corner up front, transaxle in the rear, damn near a 50/50 weight distribution, an honest 300 rwhp.

Super fun car, pain in the ass to maintain. I never had any problems with the engine or the tranny, though. Always the extra little goodies, like the travel computer.

I drove that car across country in 2000. I had always had a dream of taking a somewhat exotic car across country and that car did the job real well. At one point in Colorado, I actually set the cruise control at 150, just to see if I could (it worked).

thanks, the truck actually came from a dealer in the Central valley, no dealer near me had the blue.
Couple pointers you may already be aware of - I have the Hotchkis kit which replaces the springs, and have their swaybars front and rear.
Pretty good handling, but really rough ride at times. If I had the opportunity to redo the suspension, I would likely go with LCAs and notching the rear frame, for better ride quality.
Rims, the larger rims add a ton of weight, reducing braking effeicency and acceleration, the rims/tires I have, even though 20"s weigh less than the stock 16" rims/tires.
The Snugtop I have is great, nothing like having a 6' trunk. :laughing Problem is when wanting to transport bikes or the like, not so practical then.

I agree. Various technologies like fiber optic links and such that are used in it still amazes me. Mine is the lower end, 6 cyl C240 (2.6 liter), and it is a wonderful bargain if you ask me. It runs incredibly smooth. The 6 cyl. 2.6 engine is way under-stressed, so I really expect it to last well above 500k miles. I don't like the 230's engine (4 cyl), even though it has higher horsepower than this one. The handling is amazing for the soft suspension. My wife preferred a BMW 3 series (for its looks), but after sitting in this car, she preferred this. This was my first choice to begin with, so we went for it.

That is one thing I love about auto racing, the guys that are out there, and really damn good at it, are willing to plop you into their race car and show you the ropes, they even hang around your pit area to see the look on your face when you come back from your sessions and have tried the tips they gave you :thumbup

Ooooo....now driving that would be a blast. I'll be up at Thill this coming weekend (sat and sun), going to be interesting with the chance of rain, thankfully I've got a new set of rain tires sitting in my living room, I figure the hoosiers aren't going to cut it if it is wet, but we shall see.
