I'm starting up a new business and I think I should get some business accounting software. Quickbooks has been recommended but I'm not sure which version would be best. Obviously more features mean higher price, so is 'Basic' twice as good as 'Simple Start'. Would 'Simple Start' have enough to do the job or would I soon out grow it? Any advice would help or does anyone have a copy I could try out. Thanx.

My wife uses Quicken for her business.

She is a sole proprietorship(beauty industry) and Quicken addresses her needs just fine. She cites that Quickbooks is expensive compared to Quicken.

I guess it depends on just how successful your startup business becomes as far as upscaling your management software. But I can imagine going with the K.I.S.S approach would be beneficial.

Also, I can imagine if you wish to migrate your data from Quicken to Quickbooks quites easily considering they are both from the same vendor.

You have to evaluate your business needs in conjunction with what the program will do. Also, you need to look several years down the road and try to assess if the program will still be suitable when you grow. Will it still meet your needs 3-4 years down the road?

I have a new users version of Quicken you can have the disk, i bought two and only used one. (they were only like $5)
It isn't what you will use in the long run IMO but if you want to fool around with it, you are welcome to.

I think in comparision of Quicken and Quickbooks, they are both good but Quickbooks will be more friendly for expansion and for financial statements to bring to the bank for a loan and such. Good report writer.

I might be able to assist you in Quickbook setup down the line. Just to make sure your accounting is set up properly. That is if you end up needing a hand.
