Motorcycling sure is an expensive habit.

:(

From July 17, 2004 (When I purchased the ZX-6RR) to December 31, 2004 I spent the following:

Labor for Maintenance and Repairs: $250.19

Supplies (Oil, tools, aftermarket accessories etc.): $1095.31

Protective Gear: $2074.81

Total: $3420.31

:green

Average spending of $570/mo. Thing that kills me is that this does not include gas or insurance!

Oh, so that is where all my $ goes.

:barf

Oh yeah, almost forgot...

Leaning over the sharpest, meanest 600 while blinking back tears and laughing your tits off because you are having so much goddamn fun: Priceless.

Dunno what my refund will be yet but I'm setting up a tire fund for sure. The OEM Bridgestones were rated for 6K and I got down to the wear bars at 4K. Dang--I've gotta learn some tire conservation tricks for the Dunlops I just threw on there. Any tips?

I got 8000 out of my last 014, and that is on a liter bike.

My spending is a bit tighter, this is my daily driver. If I take a guess (since no records are anywhere near me):

Three oil changes, at about $15 each.
New tire, gift from my mother (she got a goo deal too).
New turn signals, gift from my sister.
Free helmets (two of them nearly new).
1 leather suit, $400.
New gloves, $70.
$70 radar detector.
$700 in gas (estimate)
$800 in insurance.
$2500 in paymets.

$5000 in the past year sounds about right I guess.

Of course, car payments on a 18,000 car would be about equal to this years spendings. Then add on insurance, gas, oil, and all that other crap. Don't forget the time saved from splitting traffic. And of course, a brand new $18,000 wouldn't be nearly as much fun either. Aren't going to pull any power wheelies on the freewya onramp driving a 2004 Honda Accord :D

Yeah, switch to Pirellis; Then your Dunlops will last longer! :laughing

I'd never be able to save a dime if I didn't work a 9-5 and freelance.

90% of my bike related spending (including bike) is financed through my freelance work.

9-5 paycheck goes to day to day living and savings.

Looking forward to devoting more freelance income to the house savings this year now that the bike is sorted (and switching to Pirelli's :laughing)

Yes, I have been up working since 6am on a Sunday morning...and it sucks. Didn't get to watch the UFC at my man's house last night and will be missing the Superbowl today.

However, the freelance projects I pick up are socially responsible so it feels good on top of financing my primary hobby...err...habit.
