Do you give the "low wave" to cops?

I was riding down saratoga ave a few days ago and i passed this bike cop he gave me a nod and I was pondering whether or not to give him a wave. It was kind of awkward. Do you guys give the low wave to cops?
 
So? They're looking out for us mostly. I've only gotten yelled at by a moto cop and that was when I was in my cage and almost ran him over. :laughing :laughing

They're really cool to sit down and talk to. You ought to get to know a local moto cop, you won't regret it. ;)
 
I always wave at motorcycle cops, no matter what. Rarely do they reciprocate. They're about as predictable as Hardley riders.

If you search for this, you'll find a number of discussions why that is the case. Think about how much agility you sacrifice by wearing full leathers (I know that I can barely run when I'm in mine and I ordinarily run the 100m in 11 flat) and think about the duties of a police officer. There seems to be change in the air as Berkeley cops are starting to wear full faced flip-up helmets and talk of (since I haven't seen them myself yet) aerostich suits on the way.

They're doing a lot more than just riding and enjoying the ride so I'd cut them some slack. They're on duty remember? ;) I always wave and I almost always get a wave back. Depends on where/when you catch them I think.
 
Hell yeah you wave at cops! I would go so far as to say wave at ALL cops!
When I started riding, the very first wave I gave was to a moto CHP. He was camped out with a radar gun on Lawrence Expressway and I was wating at a light across the intersection from him in the carpool lane.
When the light turned green I did a modest take-off, waved at him like a girl :blush and he did some crazy thing like he was shooting into the sky with his free hand and radar gun.
Fucking hilarious. I was laughing so hard I could barely lurch the bike into 3rd gear...

Get it dude? Wave away. It's "we"...not "us vs. them".

If you want to protray the tough biker dude...to each their own...but you don't seem like that here on BARF.

That's cool, I had never thought of that.

If I'm riding through a neighborhood, or out in the sticks somewhere, I'll wave at the locals (ie, when they're out at their mailbox, etc).
 
I've had plenty of moto's wave as I pass, more often than not with me not even noticing them until as I'm passing them. I usually don't pay too much attention to the other side of a freeway as I'm more concerned about traffic on my side.

Maybe they just didn't see you if they didn't wave

Yeah, I wave at em. Just like all other riders, sometimes they wave back, sometimes they don't.
 
Yes I wave. They wear big boots, helmets, Gloves and body armor. Thats nearly full gear.
 
Yep, I wave. I do not however recommend a BARF salute, unless you know for sure that he will get it. :teeth

I saw a bike cop making a left turn and he leaned so far that the saftey bars near his foot scratched the ground and shot sparks, but he was totally cool through the whole thing, like he wanted to do it. It was awesome, and yes i wave at police officers, but have yet to receive it back.
 
i like to take both my hands off the handlebars sometimes and spell out "blood" with my hands
 
whoa when did my thread get moved to general? I thought this was only KS worthy material, SWEET i've never been upgraded like this. It's always i get moved TO ks from general
