Just saying hello here and thought I'd say a bit about myself!

I'm 26 years old, and started riding dirt bikes and quads when I was 11. I was instantly hooked by the thrill of the ride, and always knew that when I was older I wanted to ride on the street.

I went to school at UC Davis and during that time started riding a used CBR600. I graduated in 99, took a job in Walnut Creek, and kept riding! After the dot-com bust I escaped to Reno, NV (where I still am) for a great job opportunity and picked up a Suzuki Bandit 1200S.

Unfortunately, I have found a lot of factors up here make riding less enjoyable for me than when I was in the bay area. Weather, road conditions, and plain jerky drivers have caused me to rarely take to to road anymore.

I've made the hard decision to sell my bike and take a break for a while. As a long-time lurker here, I wanted to thank everybody for the great information and enjoyment I've had from browsing these forums. I'm sure I'll still be around lurking, and hopefully one day I won't be able to escape the itch and I'll be back on the street in the fray on a new machine!

Thanks for the welcome everybody! Yeah, I know going to the track is an option, but I'm not sure my Bandit is the best machine to track. Especially since it's so nice and I don't wanna lay it down!

@Rolly, I work as a software engineer for a slot machine manufacturer.

Belated welcome to BARF! You'll love it here!

We are sorry to see you go. Please do take a break and be on a break as long as you like. People do it all the time. I, myself, took a year off, when I started to feel riding was becoming more of a pain than joy.

Maybe I'll see you sometime. I visit my sis in Sparks a few times a year. Team Hard Core (THC) is planning a motorcycle trip to Reno too sometime in late Spring.

rolly, we use C/C++ mostly for the code in the machines.

mrtnz, thanks for the welcome! If I still have my bike when you make your trip to Reno with THC I'll try to meet up with you guys!

I would love to see some of the codes...I first thought that you would use a lower language (assembly Lang.) to make it run fast...but C/C++ is already very fast and easy to troubleshoot and maintain.

Thanks Mirage! I will keep you in mind. PM me too sometime in April, in case I forget. THC will HOPEFULLY have our roadtrip plans down by then.

By the way, engineboy, a BARF moderator, just moved there in Reno a few months back. PM him and plan a get together or something. I am sure he would be happy to see another BARFer out there.
