WSIR 3-29-05 $125 Only two groups!

On March 29th we'll be back to the big track. Once again we will have only two groups, so you will get tons of track time. Intermediate and advanced riders only. Also we provide breakfast (fruit, healthy breakfast bars, OJ, coffee) and lunch (Subway/Dominos/Gatorade/Water)! And as usual, an ALS ambulance on stand-by and a full contingent of corner workers will be in place.

Hey Ken. I was at your last WSIR day, and will probably come to this one. What do you mean by "intermediate and advanced riders sub 1:40 lap time"? Does that mean advanced riders have to be under 1:40, or all riders have to be under 1:40 (I'm guessing the former, but who knows). Also just how strict is this 1:40 mark? I'm on a FZR400 and can currently eak out maybe 1:43, and hopefully will be a few seconds faster soon. But anyway, a 1:40-1:43 on an FZR400 means I'm carrying a hell of a lot more corner speed at WSIR compared to an R1 doing a 1:40. I'm OK being in the slower group, just so long as inside passing is allowed... is it?

And finally, racer discount? :teeth

Hey Eric thanks for the question.

The time I posted is not a requirement, just a guideline. For instance I am slower than fook but am comfortable being passed by guys/gals way faster than I am (learned that real early in my riding experiences...the hard way lol). Anyways its just a indicator of how fast some people are in the A group and what to expect when being passed so they don't get spooked and panic. I'll have to rewrite that guideline, wasn't very clear. :)

Racer discount? - yes $20 off :cool ...just write your race org. and race number in the "motorcycle experience" box.

Hope to see you out there.

There seems to be a lil interest from members (i got a couple private messages) on this site in this event and I know its a long haul for you guys so I thought I would post some more info:

For those unfamiliar with the track, If you would like, we have a couple WSMC racers on staff that can show you around the track for a couple laps. In the B group we run a couple slow laps to get riders familiar with the corners.

Its a great track. Its mostly high speed, its described as "The fastest track in the west". Turn 1 is a medium left at the end of a fast straight. Turn two is a long right hander, smooth and fast. The combination of turns 3-6 are called the "Omega". Its an uphill left cresting into a right then another right wich goes down hill. Then you hit a fun medium left that takes you into 7 and 8 that are real fast! I'm not real fast but I can get up to around 120 - 125 there before you have to get on the brakes for a medium to tight right into the straight.

To make the trip more worthwhile you may consider doing the track two days in a row. Another org. is doing the track the day before us. They are more expensive and run more groups wich means less track time but it may make your decision to drive so far a lil easier.

If you prefer technical tracks like I do, another event the day before is right next door at "Streets of Willow" A real fun track! Lots of tight turns, a banked "bowl", a nice chicane and a fairly long straight. Class Motorcycle schools is running the event. Its kinda expensive @ $275 but its another option to add to your trip if you wanna make it a two day trip.

I have hotel info if anyone is interested.

BTW just a heads up. If you end up deciding to attend our event , we sold out our last event there so sign up ASAP, we are already 1/2 way there.

I hope some of you guys can make it
:cool

Come on people. Willow Springs isn't that bad. It's a hell of a lot of fun. On a small bike like mine. You have it WFO in 6th gear all the way through T8..... you see T9 coming... keep that throttle WFO... and when you see God you sit up click down a gear (no brakes) and hope you can make it through the much tighter T9. Yeah... it's fun!

Don't listen to people say bad things about Willow. They'd have you believe there is a giant bike-eating snow monster on the front straight :laughing

:laughing great pic! Luckily I haven't seen that monster yet...one got me at Pahrump...don't remember what he looked like though...I was in la-la land for a lil while after he took me out! :teeth

Yeah I was actually at that trackday (Jan 7) where it got snowed out and took that pic. Someone else from the WSMC board did the photoshop when there was a discussion about flags. I forget what flag was supposed to warn of the giant Godzilla on the front straight :laughing

Thanks Ken.
Corte Madera is in the north bay, its typically half an hour less than that for most of bay area folks. 5.5 hours is not bad at all (esp compared to 18h drive to Utah :laughing)

:laughing its all about perspective! :thumbup ...5 1/2 hr drive is better than a sharp stick in the eye too! :teeth

Can't you get a weekend date and $25 cheaper trackday? That would be worth it for the long haul.

BTW, I got there in 4 hours from San Jose the last time I went there.

Weekend dates are hard to get, especially for a new track day organization like mine. With breakfast, lunch, a full contingent of corners workers, an ALS ambulance (the best, but most expensive option), and running only two groups Its hard to go lower than $125. It IS worth it, you get alot of track time and don't have to sit around waiting for two other groups to run their sessions. We may run a $99 special later in the year though like we did last year if that helps ya :cool

Dude it is so worth $125! Some trackday companies charge upwards of $160-180 and I think that might even be for 3 groups. $125 for 2 groups and catering is a steal :thumbup

I've been to Ken's trackdays before, and it's a *quality* inexpensive day. Don't worry about them not running a professional show just because of the low price.

Wow - kind words! thanks :cool

BTW B group is sold out but A group still has about 10 spots open.

Last minute on-line registration will be available until 7pm 3-28. If you wait till last minute though, you should probably call to be sure we have not sold out. Only 7 "A" group spots are available. No cancellations have been received for "B" group sorry.

Ken:

Id like to attend an event, do you ever coordinate those of us without trucks to share transport with to an event. I'm in San Diego as well.
Thanks,
Hubert

Hello Hubert,

Sportbikerental.com attends all my events and they always pull a trailer. To haul someone elses bike they charge $100, and you will have to sign a release of liability.

Or/Also, every once in a while I hear of registered riders offering open space in their trucks or trailers, I will ask around to see if I can find a spot for ya if you like.
