The 530ERV is a 120 length, and you would cut it down. We sell the mini breaker and mini press as a set for $50...but you would need to peen the rivet end. Oh, and you want to gring the rivet before using the breaker so you don't start breaking pins (they don't hold up well to sideslip torque).

Sorry for the delayed reply....
The F4i is a 525x108 with 16/46 gearing.
The GSXR600 is also a 525x110 with 16/45 gearing.
If you're happy with your current gearing and your sprockets aren't worn, then just get the chain. If your sprockets are showing signs of wear, or you want more holeshot, now is a good time to replace both.

No worries...we always discount chains for BARF members. $91 for the 520VM, $96 for the 525VM, and $99 for the 530VM. They retail at $118-140.
The old CBR600's used a 530 chain. They didn't switch to a 525 until the F2. There is NO REASON why you shouldn't go to a 520 chain these days, with the quality and high tensile strength of the newer chains, and DID is the right way to go. Granted that requires new sprockets, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with the results, and you're reducing quite a bit of rotating sem-sprung weight. You'll save 2lbs going from a 530 to 520 chain, and save a bit also on lighter sprockets.

even after grinding down the peened rivets and putting the breaker pin in straight, it still breaks. also the riveter backing plate cracked in half installing a chain.

OK, I'm gonna' admit total ignorance. I just purchased a VFR400R NC24. This is my second motorcycle but the first one with a chain. I'm hoping that since you are selling chains that you have some expertise. How many miles given normal (not totally ignored and not anal) care should a chain last? I'm sure that this varies but a ballpark is good. How should I check it? My plans at this point are short local rides in the twisties. No track time. No cross country jaunts. What kind of chain should I have? Are the chains that you are advertising primarily for normal use or for racing? Recommendations? I just bought the bike and need to go to the store to buy lube. I kind of figured clean with WD40 and a rag and then lube with..?? Any good recommendations for lube? Thanks for your help.

chain wax. it's a spray on, and makes ur chain feel like a candle. Doesn't fling either, once it's set.
On another note, Todd is an awesome person to deal with. takes care of his costumers and keeps very good communication. can't wait til my parts get here.

SHIN - It's 525x108 and 16/45 for that year.
MACKEY - Yes, we sell the "MP Riveting Kit" on our site. It's very popular.
EVOLUTION 247 - There's not really a big margin on tires, but I'm willing to put something together. Email me to arrange a group price.
ALL - BARF is the only place I've heard any negative feedback about MP tools. We've sold hundreds of their mini breakers and mini presses and several dozen of the full riveting kits with zero negative feedback. Possible that a couple of you just are unlucky?
BLAZIN R1 - No. The VM chains just have gold side plates. Only the ERV2 race chains are gold plated for lower friction.
JNGLSTTICAL - Yes, I'd hook you up a deal on the Pro-V O-Ring chains as well.
JCMJRT - A good X-ring chain will get many folks 15,000 miles or better. It ALL depends on how well you maintain it. There are dozens of good threads on BARF that will help you with chain maintenance. An O-Ring chain is a good thing compared to a non-sealed chain. An X-Ring chain is a step up with a longer wear rating. A common race chain is the DID 520ERV2. I like the Maxima chain wax...but every has their own opinions.
IXRACEX4XPHO: Thanks for the compliment. I concur. Chain was is a good choice. Something to remind folks is to HEAT UP the chain first since you want to apply the wax to a warm chain, then as the chain cools the wax "sets" and will protect better. Good call!
EAST BAY DAVE: Correct. $99 for the 530VM. It comes with a rivet link standard.
MODERATOR: Any chance y'all can stick this thread since I'm willing to do a long term special for BARFers?
Just to reiterate pricing for my BARFers;
DID Pro-V O-Ring
(gold side plates)
520x120: Retail $82, Special $59
525x120: Retail $130 (ouch!), Special $89
530x120: Retail $110, Special $76
NOTE: We can special order 108, 110, and other OEM lengths in the Pro-V chains in 520x.
DID Premium VM X-Ring
(gold side plates)
520x120: Retail $118, Special $91
525x120: Retail $125, Special $96
530x120: Retail $140, Special $99
DID ERV2 (Exclusive Racing Series)
Gold-plated side plates
520ERV2: Retail $163, Special $114
Enter BARF DISCOUNT when checking out (in the COMMENTS box) to get the special pricing.
Best Regards,

Hey jcmjrt!
It was great talking with you on the phone today. I asked AFAM about sprockets for your bike and we had no luck. Can you confirm if your bike has the single sided swingarm?
Anyhow, they suggested that you grab stuff from Japan since the NC30/35 seem to be what people over here MAY have available, but not apparently for the NC24.
Any way to get the 530VM discounted without the gold plates? :teeth

I have a 2000 Ninja 250.
Stock gearing is 14/45. I'd like to put 15/42-44. (I commute with the bike and need the lower revs)
The stock chain is a 520, but I don't know what length chain to put on with the change in sprocket sizes.
I'd like to get all three (2 sprockets and 1 chain) from you.
Can you advise me on what to get?
Will you be able to honor the price if I order on Monday or Tuesday?
Thanks,
Russ

The 530ZVM retails at $182 for the 120 link or $197 for the 130 link size (ya gotta extended swingarm 'Busa?).
Our price would be $129 and $140 respectively. Use the Misc order form. :)

Hi Russ,
You would want a 520x106 chain if you stay with the stock length. So if you get a VM X-ring chain you cut down a 120x. If you get a Pro-V O-ring chain I can do a 106x for you. Retail on the 106x is $73 and your price is $52.
I'd suggest AFAM sprockets....they'll last a long time. Front is $14.99, rear(hard anodized) is $57.99. I can do a Sprocket Specialists alloy rear (non-anodized) for $33.99.
The special was originally posted in November of 2002. I extended this to a long term deal for BARF members, so it is still good on a (somewhat) permanent basis, unless I need to adjust pricing a little here and there. :)
