Looking for someone who is capable of starting a QA group from scratch. I'd prefer someone who has a large amount of experience in both unit level testing, and black-box testing of network hardware. PM me for more information about the specifics.

Responsible for scheduling own time, managing testing like a project, and quality completion of multiple tasks within a varying environment with changing constraints. Independently produces defect descriptions that rigorously quantify the problem to a high degree. Independently identifies the scope and impact of a problem and conducts additional analysis to identify defect cause and scope. Influence primarily impacts project but will often affect related projects.

That's what the "or similar" is all about.

I just need convinced that the person I'm hiring
1. has the skills I need immediately
2. can learn the remaining skills rapidly
3. can commit to and achieve a long term goal

Maybe so. Having been a Tech Recruiter at one time, I think those requirements stated up front stand out (the degree part, & I didn't even see the "or similar"), & turn a lot of would be GREAT candidates off...

I see those requirements & immediately quit reading & move on to the next ad. Not worth my time as I know the work environment will be highly-political w/a bunch of degreed assholish snotty rich kids...

Some of the best peeps I've ever hired were ex-military w/o huge degrees. Or older people with lots of varied job experience; they just seem more settled & more mature, work harder/more devoted & easier to get along with....

IMO, FWIW
