Had a GREAT ride today at Hollister with Jake (jaek, husky te450). Umm, the "sunny side" (???) was near-perfect, but the side closest the gate was ridiculous clay mud everywhere.

Somehow after climbing that one big-ass hill right in front of the MX track (I still don't know any correct trail names or locations, bear with me), we ended up in the "very muddy part"

I think I hit a dry patch so I wick it up a bit, only to find a huge mud bog in the next turn....my front wheel tucks and I do an total superman endo, off the side of the trail and down the mtn into some bushes, about 10 feet down. Laughing my ass off. Jake said when he saw my bike and no me, he thought it would be alot worse :)

I just kicked that hills ass last week!!!:mad :teeth (I had to since it kicked my ass the last time I was there riding an xr100, I had to extract my revenge)

sorry, I don't know the name of shit at Hollister either, but someone will.

Sounds like you had a good day, that's all that matters. Any day you wreck, and can laugh about it, is a good day.

Heh... it's true. I heard the bike rev like hell, then nothing - which is always a bad sign. Came around the turn, pretty KTM lying on the trail, no Ryan in sight. Thank god for soft bushes I guess, and to the ten year old who had to stop because Ryan's bike was blocking the trail, and ended up stuck; well, we're sorry.

Oh, and the one thing Ryan was too gracious to mention: it turns out that dirtbikes handle much better in the mud when the tire pressures are 15/15 rather than 40/45 (!) as they came from the dealer. It was as close to night and day as I can imagine, and I'm kicking myself for not checking them earlier.

Oh - if you're at all tempted to mess with the ergonomics on your dirt bike, I can't recommend that you do it strongly enough. I modded my footpegs to move them down and back half an inch, and was amazed at how much better I was able to grip the bike with my legs. What with the new tires, and the soon-to-be-new handlebars, it's an entirely different motorcycle.
