I was just wondering if little to no throttle slack is bad...?? I just adjusted the Slack on my throttle cable and i tend to like it/feel more comfortable with little to no slack...

WILL :barf

P.S. I have kind of lost my faith in the dealer.... I noticed iwas about .3" over the spec. for my chain slack and then realized that the rear axle nut was no where near its torque spec :rolleyes

Near zero throttle cable slack is OK as long as the throttle reliably returns closed to consistent idle rpm when you let go with the front wheel at any angle.

It's a pisser when you can't trust a "paid professional" to properly make adjustments and torque down the bolts properly when done.

I like very little (almost none) slack in my throttle cables. Make sure when you adjust out most of the slack that you turn the bars from side to side with the engine running and make sure the idle doesn't change.

I have been around a lot of dealer service departments over the years. It is sad how few competent mechanics there are. Many shops bill by book rates. A mechanic can often cut corners get paid for an hour job done in 20 minutes. This is why the details like throttle adjustmen and axle torque get skipped.

Cable tension changes by turning the handle bar. Full left or Full right. One will be tighter then the other. Adjust the cable to zero slack but move freely at it's tightest handle bar position. That'll be least amount of throttle play can adjust it to.

Thanks for the replys :teeth

I adjusted it to just about no slack last night.... The idle stays consistent at full lock either way and the throttle snaps back all the time :thumbup

Ill think ill just stick to doing all the work myself!!!!
