Which do you think is more insidious: pop-up advertisements or pop-unders?

My vote is for pop-unders. Pop-ups are easier to close right away.

I got trapped in a never ending loop of pop ups earlier today. I closed a pop up, and it opened two more. Closed those two and a fourth opened. Close that one and it opened two more. One of them was the origional pop up that started it all. When I closed it it opened two. Etc... I finally had to go into options and disable javascript, close all the windows then re-enable javascript. :mad

If Dante were alive today, he'd have penned a special corner of The Inferno for web-programmers who pull crap like that. :finger

Pop-ups are the absolute worst. At least with a pop-under you can still read whatever the fuck you were about to read... instead of staring at something like "ADD THREE INCHES TO YOUR PENIS NOW!!!! FAST AND EASY!!!" :teeth

Actually, what I really hate are the animated DHTML ads that won't go away until they have done their thing! While not exactly a pop-up, they certainly qualify!

Try pop-up stopper by www.panicware.com there is a free version that really reduces frustration. Its not perfect, but I use it when I know I'm hitting a site that has those annoying buggers all the time.
