So I am here to ask the 35 racer types that have checked-in and other interested "What we should call our forum?"
Amateur Racing covers most of the folks, but some do AMA and other upper level racing too. I feel it should be more inclusive of all types of Road Racers and be more inviting to other Top level racers that may want to join in the future.
I have acouple of suggestions to ponder and would like to hear your thoughts as well. I expect this forum to grow quickly as BARF continues to grow quickly.
So here are a couple.
The Racers Corner
The Paddock
In The Hot Pits
ON THE GRID
I got ya thinking?? Thanks look forward to your input!

Hey Budman make up a Poll for these 4 you listed and see what happens.
'The Paddock' gets my vote.

Money pit
Black hole of spending
As far as I'm concerned I'm still an amatuer, "On the grid" gets my vote.

Amateur racing seems fine. Not excting, but tell the tale.

"Amateur Racing" sounds fine to me too, but what happens when I get picked up by Repsol Honda to race the RC211V in MotoGP? I'm sure that will happen soon. In fact, how come I'm not sitting by the phone waiting for the call???
"Racer's Corner" works for me, but so would "The Hot Pit". "The Paddock" sounds too much like a place for gossip and Lord knows there's quite a few soap operas and melodramas going on there. I think the title should help focus the postings to meaningful topics.
That's my $.02

I'll throw my vote in for "Racer's Corner".
As has been previously pointed out, we don't want to specifically exclude pros, right? And technically speaking, aren't all AMA Pro Racing license holders considered pros? Or do you actually have to earn a living at something to be considered professional?

Being called a proffessional is a interesting dilema.
If you are writing off your racing with the IRS you've got to call yourself a PRO. Certainly making a living from racing is something only a few can say they really do..Yet we have many Pro's at the AMA Nationals that are not. Since EqualsD has a Respol V-5 for next year he would qualify :laughing

You claim it as a business..I did it for 3 years and YES I did get audited..but passed the test :teeth
1. Are you getting money for racing.
A. Purse money.
B. Money from sponsors to advertise.
Then yes you have a good chance.
The IRS will let it roll for 3 years or so without a profit. If you continue they will hit you with the HOBBY clause and you will get fooked..back taxes and penalties.
I won Suzuki Cup money and got money (via Trades) from Sponsors so they let it go..I lost about 7k a year for 3 years and as I said above passed the test. The Auditor said..one more year losing money and we'll consider it a hobby and you'll get whacked!!
See an accountant for more and better info!
Good luck.

Out of curiosity, does that write off dodge work for club racers? (I thought it was considered amatuer/hobby...)

Hobby/ Loss could give a shit, so long as money is made and is taxable...
