Hello all!

Any reason why this shouldnt be done?
Potential damage to either system?

Has anybody done this? Those silly selector boxes are 20 bucks!

If what your trying to do is hook up a PSOne and a PS2 to the same tv, then I've have to ask what's the point when the PS2 will play PSOne games.

I hope that answers your question.

If you are talking about having multiple A/V components go into the same input on your TV without some sort of switch or splitter, I'd say I don't recommend it.

infrandom: Pure laziness! No actually I only have one PS2 controller, two ps1controllers and the memory cards for ps1 & 2 only work with the respective games.

unixgal: yeah pretty much im trying to get out of putting down the cash, and wondering why it wouldnt work.

Of course I would only have one console on at a time. So do ya'll think I could just rewire an old printer select box?

Hmm....

Sounds messy. Seriously though, so is it an issue of the memory cards? Cause I've plugged PSOne dualshock controllers into the PS2 without any problems before. (when I needed a 4th controller and I only had 3 PS2 controllers). Soooo the only issue I'm hearing here is that you don't want to switch memory cards between games. But unless you have some robot to switch the CD/DVD out of the PS2 your going to have to walk up to it anyway.

Hypothetically, sure, it could work... you would just have to get spare cables and either splice connections to a DB25 adapter of some sort, or do ALOT of mucking around inside the switch... probably cheaper (if you consider the cost of cables, etc) to just get a $20 switch.

For me, my time is worth too much to waste unless it's something I'm really interested in learning/doing anyway. Your choice (and time) of course.

Just my .02

I had heard and believed that 1&2 controllers dont mix. I figured yeah ok that sounds typical. Well it works fine!
Please disregard the above nonsense as posted by me.
