Just got back from doing the Rubicon run from Tahoe to Loon lake and back. We are palnning another trip November 8-9 going up Friday night staying at South Lake and starting the ride Saturday morning. The ride took us 5 hours there and back with lots of breaks.

Warning: This is not for beginners and very few intermediate riders.

Rubicon on bikes is rough, too many big, giant rocks. 4 wheelin is my preffered way to go.
 
So, it's like riding around on Gas Gas's over sides of mountains covered in boulders?

Not my forte really, but I'd sure love to try that stuff some day.

Very fun ride. I've done it twice on my XR650L, once on a 4WD Honda Fourtrax, and many times in my LandCruiser. I gotta admit that the most fun was on the Fourtrax's.. .nothing like pulling a wheelie to get up on some rocks and casing it. :teeth

The ride can be fairly easy or difficult and it is not for everyone but it is beautiful country and Metcalf, Hollister, Clear Creek and Carnegie don't challenge anymore and this will give you a little adrenaline rush.

Graffe, you like bouncing up on the rocks too, how bout not knowing where the trail goes up the granite except for the permamant oil steaks leading you like Hansel and Gretel with the candy..........There are other places to ride up there that are nice as well. Throw the Fishing pole in your back pack and you can go to lakes that hardly anyone has ever fished at.:teeth
 
hahahahah i could show you some hills @ Carnegie which u will need extended swing-armage to handle... not a challenge psffff... :x now that they have closed most of the front hills due to green peace cruising down hollow, you need to dig in the back. have you ever riden with pat's group?

how do you like the 426?

We have done most of the hills at carnegie around the back side. We have only ridden there this past summer under summer conditions which means lots of rocks and extremely loose and dusty and windy as hell conditions. Don't know who Pat is unless he is the old dude with the 600 or 750 motor in his bike with extended swingarm that looks like he can't ride until you see him. Front side is also closed so don't know what to tell ya.

426 Nice, however I want the new 450. maybe in another year or two, just bought this one last march $6200.00:teeth

NOT when you leave at 1:00 p.m. and need to make it roundtrip by 6:00 p.m. before it gets dark on the same day :laughing :laughing :laughing
 
yeah, i dont even ride Carn in the summer.. or i would if there was some rain. you need to time that park just right. too much water is like clay mud, not enough is dry. after the rains and a few days to dry, watch oh k695 herei come!! hahahah

i like that 450 honda too... drewl. they just came out with f-bager 250's too. i never thought i would ever want a 4stroke after ripping it up on the 2 strokes but now im kinda considering trade-in on my 1996 250. i love the alum. frame on my 99cr250 so that will be my keeper. :)
 
I am looking forward to some rain, put the ol 750 in the garage and dirt bike ride. Like I said, never rode C in good conditions.

I actually meant Yamaha's new 450, not Honda. Oh well.
 
I look forward to some mud!!! Ijust got the new pipe for the rm250. as for the rubicon I have ran that 5 or 6 times on my RM I cant go on the 8Th -9Th however I'm up for that run any time just let me put on my big tank:teeth
 
Did the Rubicon on bicycle a few years back- went through a set of brakes in one day...

If it wasn't for the skeeters- I'd say it was a blast and look forward to bringing my Gixxer up there someday (it's just not gonna past Loon Lake:laughing)

That place R U L E S ! ! ! If you think you can ride a dirt bike GO THERE, you will test your skills for sure. A good friend of mine has a cabin off Ice House Road in Girlie Creek so we do the Loon Lake to So. Tahoe trip and back.
I like to ride the Rubicon on Jeeper jamborie weekends(first of june) and piss off the jeepers as their crawling up the bedrock:teeth:shhh

Your right,

Rubicon will test your skills. We did not make it because of the snow and rain this past weekend but went to Clear Creek instead, what a blast. Street riding is sweet but doing it in the dirt is hands down awesome.............
