So I have a tank mount that I have had for a few months and have noticed how it holds me back in reference to track times, whether it is mental or not. I have just picked up a pencil cam that I plan on mounting in a bunch of different locations on the bike but now am confused on where to mount the camera. I know that the easiest place is the tail section but being that it is a track/race bike getting to it to turn it on or off is a little hard for easy use. There is space on the inside of my left fairing between the outer and inner fold of the fairing but am concerned about the impact it will have on the handling of the bike or heat coming off the engine.
Any ideas on whether this mounting on the fairing will work or are there any ideas on where to the camera on the bike, it's a 2004 ZX10R??
Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Put the camera under the seat. use a long cable to plug stick cam. Put cam in the front, there you go.. onboard action :)
Non intrusive either. Ask Mikey (#801) he's got a sweet setup.

Extend your subframe. Make a simple undertay. put cam :)
Sounds simple enough. I don't know what the ZX10R seat assembly looks like tough, so, hard to tell. Could be much harder than I imagine.
You gonna be at the AFM meet on the 28/29 ?
If so, there are some other ZX10R, they might have some ideas.

Buy yourself one of the newer solid state SD card video camcorders. They are about the size of a deck of cards, and should fit in alot more places. I have a Panasonic SV-AV100 with a 2GB SD memory card that will hold 40 minutes of DVD video. Much smaller than a Mini DV and it also does not skip at all.
Also sometimes theres a little pocket of space under the gas tank. Get some quick release pins for the tank and seat and that might work. Plus it would be fairly protected. Just make sure it does not crimp any throttle wires. Ive had a bad experience with that.

Do you have any sample footage with this camera. I'm curious as to how it comes out. I'm considering to buy one.

The only stuff I can show you over the 'net are these super small WMV files, for example here:

The above is what you can output fairly easily using the software Panasonic bundles in (thats about all its good for though).
If you can get your hands on a copy of the 2004 AFM season review by Vision Wells, they used some of my footage in the 600 Superbike and F1 races. My lense was actually out of focus for some fo the onboard stuff but it still turned out OK. Ive never been able to figure out how to burn the resulting MPGs to a DVD but then again, I probably dont have the right software or know how.
Some things I dont like about it is, the camera doesnt work well in low light conditions, and it sucks as a digital camera (but does take still shots). It also doesnt work at all in MPEG2 mode, and it only comes with a 512MB card which will only get you 10 minutes when its set to MPEG4 mode (which is the only mode that Ive found to work).
