No long story this time. Still sick. Pretty sore.

Man it takes hard work to win.

Funny, sometimes it takes even harder work to lose. This weekend was one of the harder times.

I feel bad for letting everybody down. There are plenty of reasons why I did so poorly, but they're all bullshit. Truth is I could have ridden better, and made smarter choices. I didn't. Everyone on our team hit their marks. I'm the only one who missed.

We sure learned a lot, though. That was a goal we had. Finished first Duc in FX. That was another goal (HMC bike broke on the line right next to us). Stood up to the flu. Not sure that was the best choice. Mike Dennis and Nick got more hp out of the 749R. That was great. Matched our best AFM configuration times on it, with the ama layout. That'll be fun next round. We all learned a new interval for checking our trannys. (Less time than the last one.) Treid out my first soft barrier. Not so soft after all. But not nearly as hard as the last wall I hit (Thanks Infineon). Learned some great points on our set-ups. Turns out shorter actually IS better. That's good. Learned I hate the taste of Theraflu. That stuff blows. Took a 600 square in the shoulder in nine. Glad I saw that guy coming (Thanks for the armor, Vanson). Hit my head pretty hard in a Suomy for the first time. Now I know they're not just good looking, and feeling, but they really take a shot well too. (never even knew I hit my head)

Got a nice ride in a golf cart from some cutie. That was fun. She dropped me off to my hottie. That was even better.

So I guess all things considered, it wasn't such a bad weekend after all.

Congrats to all our other guys. You all represented well.

Till next time..

It's a shame when you spend so much money on your bike, and racing that you can't even afford enough denim to cover your umbrella girls ass.

Oh and any excuse to post picks of the Umbrella Girl/Wife is good enough for me--You are a lucky man

HoleShot has those same pants, minus the "underarmour"

I think those are Eric's hand-me-downs. :laughing

Seriously, you looked good out there. It's too bad things didn't work out in Superbike, but you were going good in FX and have a finish to be proud of. :thumbup

You guys are too kind. Thanks for being up-beat.

Glad at least some of you got T's outfit. If not for that I think the flu would have kept me horizontal ;)

F4ichic. I crashed in the middle of ten, on lap four. While in a pack with Mizdal and Sullivan and two other guys, the tranny went into some crazy false nutural going into nine. Couldn't go back up, or down. Thought the chain came off, so I ditched it between the hay bails outside of nine to hide the bike for the remainder of the race. Then suddenly it dropped into gear again, so I headed back out. Lost a good chunk of time on that pack, but I could still see them so I set a goal to catch them by race end. Then into eleven it did it again. Went past all the cones and it dropped back in again. Headed at it once more - could barely see them now. One lap later it upshifted two gears at once, and then began coming out of gear on acceleration. Total bitch to ride, but for some reason I figured I was the problem, not the bike. Struggled on, making overly careful shifts until lap eleven or so when while entering ten it came out of gear again. I instantly tried upshifting to settle the bike just before the main part of the turn and when I did everything locked up. Saved an absolute high side by going full lock and leaning way off the inside, but when it came back in I was too far off to stay with it. It shook me off and I was toast. Went into the wall head first. Bike hit first, so it lifted the soft barrier and I shot beneath it. Ended up wedged ass first between two hay bails like someone was jamming me down the neck of a beer bottle - in what looked like a large yellow club houes. Flapped my arms like a chicken to get my knees out from under my chin and escaped through the only source of light I could find - beneath the outer skirt of the soft barrier cover. I guess the white vinyl cover with the sun shining through it was what made everything look yellow in there. I never even saw the bike, but I'm glad it didn't hit me. Been down that road before. Between the tranny and the flu I should have pulled off like we did on Saturday. But the medical center hooked me up an hour before the race and I felt pretty Ok. I really wanted those guys, and was riding very comfortably at their pace.

Motor's coming apart today. I bet the tranny is junk. Bike's not too bad though.

Sheesh that thing leans...:thumbup

Again, you got out there. Many didn't. You did well, despite increasing tranny difficulties. With a flu, nonetheless (alka-seltzer rocks).

Yes, you crashed. But you learned how much before you horizontally parked it? A good three or four things, at least? So the weekend wasn't a complete wad.

fwiw, lots of folks in the grandstands cheered and clapped after seeing you extract yourself from the haybails and jump out of the way (me included). It's great to cheer for the local guys....

More then clues, brother. Here it is plain and simply. Mike took the motor apart Tuesday and found this part in pieces. Apparently without this working properly you don't get complete engagement, or sometimes can even get the next gear. It's all beyond me..

Shift arm was the culprit..
