I know I posted on this earlier, however after talking to a few other racers and an Australian suspension guy...I think this is a great opporunity to gain some serious exposure for the AFM and the West Coast riders. I was real lucky landing this writing gig for Road Racer X magazine and we should all take advantage of it.
If the article gets enough hits, I believe they will grant me a column in the magazine where I can promote the AFM further; which is something I feel is desparately needed...obviously.
Neverthless, please hit this link often...bump this posting and let's get the AFM some more support, sponsorship...and exposure! This kind of thing just doesn't come around often...

I see that there is an AFM race coming up at Sears Point / Infineon May 28-29. I have never been to an AFM race. Where does one get tickets? I would like to come out and support the local guys and the kids want to see some racing. Good article by the way.

Just come up to Sears Pt, and you can get the tickets at the gate as you come in. Saturday is Practice, Sunday morning is Practice again, then racing starts ~10am or so. Come on out, check it out.

Thanks Everyone! I'm glad you all enjoyed the article. I must confess, I was a little nervous to see what other racers thought about the article. It's one thing for a rider to read it and enjoy it, and it is a whole other thing when your peers enjoy/agree with it too!
In the future, I want this column to not focus on me in particular but rather highlight the "real" stuff that goes on behind the scenes while stating my opinion on them. I believe that painting a picture of ordinary people doing extordinary things will attract the attention we need here in the AFM and on the West Coast. We have so many talented riders and so many unbelievable races, it is a shame that fans of our sport are missing out on it.
Thanks again everyone!

Oh so true!! A shit load of talent out there in the AFM!!
With Leigh doing her part with getting the word out - now you! All we need now is for the govenor to put it on a ballot for more exposure..:cool

Great column :thumbup I just e-mailed this to the editor:
I have been a casual reader of Road Racer X for the past year or two, having bought a handful of issues each year. But the magazine just hasn't "sold me" enough to subscribe. I just checked out your article by Ryan Teixeira and I was very happy to see you including more privateer/club/pro-am/whatever you want to call it type content. I'm a club racer myself, and could identify with everything Ryan was talking about. I hope you keep Ryan on as a regular contributor. I'm still buying my copies of RRX from the newstand, but I'll seriously consider sending in for a subscription now.

Great article. I sent the article to a bunch of friends who don't understand what it takes, and quite frankly, think road racers are a little off-kilter.
Here is a quote from one of them: "The last paragraph is impressive. Tons of heart there."
