Just curious as to what everyone’s goals are for next year and beyond. As the race season wound down I had been repeatedly asked what my plans for '03 were. I have some idea but nothing solid. Mid - 2001 however I had a fair idea that I wanted to help out Ken Hill and Hayward Kawasaki by going after the O/P class. So what are your short and long term aspirations? For some it may mean passing the new racer school, or finishing top 5, while others plan on winning championships.
So what are you shooting for?
1) 2003 - ?
2) Beyond - ?

:confused Dunno:confused Naaaaaaa, actually some of my goals are to keep an open mind about improvements to our trackdays in
03 and beyond and also get back on track as I was without wheels for the 02 season (home purchase sloooowed me down) and just keep the lines of communication open between my customers and myself so that the largest percentage are satisfied. Keep our sunday rides at a safer and sane pace so we return home to our families/friends.

I want to pass the new racer school and do my first races (AFM and probably a few CCS). My goals for the races themselves are just to dice with some people, get to know how the other guys ride, and not crash others or myself in the process. Fingers crossed!!

Decreasing my lap times.....
Learning suspension setup.....
Learning corner speed....
Getting better at passing...
Getting better at late breaking....
Getting the right body position....
Getting out of corners better...
I hope that AFM does not bring back F40.....better if they did a F Ez race instead.

Ah, that time of year again - you'll have to post a "how'd you do in '02?" on IS, kneedrag. ;) (I got one 3rd place, but I think that's the only '02 goal I made). For '03:
1) Don't crash, on my own or by letting myself get surprised by someone else.
2) Make top-20 on the AFM top novice list (I'll be a novice again next year).
3) Make top-10 on the AFM open twins list.
4) WIN a CCS amateur Supertwins race.
5) Get down to 2:02s at Thunderhill, and below 2:00 at Buttonwillow.
6) Figure out how to ride around f***ing Sears Point...
For beyond: Keep having fun, and don't let myself take the sport too seriously!
Hey Jeff, heard you killed at CCS! Twins are treating you well!:thumbup
Was going to do 03' and these were the goals:
Consistant times at BW and Thunder for the CCS and AFM endurance races plus a few open twins. Thunder I was looking for 2:04s but only could do 6-8s for an hour. Endurance I would have to do 4-6s to even be competitive.
Suspension work because I was running stock everything and just got the new parts too before the crash. It was a critical part in doing the times I needed.
Endurance by knowing when I am pacing well and how long I can turn it up a notch.
Learning to drive out harder and more inside passing. Inside passing is my weakest point because I do not feel confident most of the time and dont want to take chances.

same as TSC (decreasing lap times)and OtRW (everything).
want to eventually race in a couple years once i have a real job and can actually support the habit. :teeth CCS Novice for me and probably a SV650 or smaller bike. heard 600 novice class is dangerous and people dicing like it's for a podium in 50th place. that's not for me though the SV is getting more and more popular from what i've seen.
03 sched. on novice openings/school are already closed, FYI.

2003 - finish on the podium for half the races, and get my first win
2004 - win the Formula Singles championship, learn to ride a faster/bigger bike
2005 - Win the MotoGP world championship
2006 - start driving FIA rally cars because winning all these races is getting boring
I might be getting some of these goals confused with Valentino Rossi's goals, but it's too early to tell which ones :laughing

Learn suspension......
Run T-Hill in 2:10.......
Join CCS Novice.....
And I can's believe I am gonna say this but crash (Nothing Severe. I will even take a low speed parking lot crash) Since I haven't dumped the fast bike I sometimes find myself not realizing the respect I should have for it. In a way that would teach it in a quick way.

This next year I want:
1.) Top 3 in Open Production, overall
2.) Top 10 in Open Supebike
3.) Top 5 in 600 Superbike
4.) Top 20 AMA Race
and laptimes that are 2-3 seconds faster than now across the board.
It's a hard goal, but I don't want them to be easy!
Hey Hole! You forgot one thing on your list and that is:
First place in the bikini tong class for Robert as umbrella boy for the season!:teeth

My goal from now until april 2003 - save enough money to finance my racing for 2003.
April 2003 to October 2003 - Complete every race weekend and show up to every practice session. This past year I did my first year of racing kinda of half assed and only completed 4 weekends, actually 3 because I DNF'd my first race weekend.
If I just show up and be consistent I believe I can easily get top 5 in Novice. I might move up to experts next year mid-sesason since I am not about trophies and more about improving. Also i noticed my times now are just as fast as some experts.
I'll evaluate what my 2004 goals are once I complete the 2003 seas

All very worthy goals!
Good luck to all those starting down the dark path of racing. It's addictive as crack, but the pipes are way heavier.
T-hill in <2:10 by third trackday next year. (ah hell! by second trackday)
run > 7 trackdays
Get a freakin clue about:
1) suspension
2) threshold braking
3) sliding the rear tire

Get under 2:05 with stock (including suspension) at T'hill
Get Zx-9 aquainted with Laguna this year
By this summer be able to purchase a new ZX6-r, and go after 750's and come back to the AFM after 11 years

Same goals as Jeff (since we're running in the same class with the same novice stature).
Also add:
*No mechanical difficulties (Since Ducs are sooooo mechanically reliable).
And to reiterate #6 and FINALLY Get rid of my Sears/Infineon Raceway demons once and for all.

Now I'm down to 1 goal since I won my first trophy at Willow Springs last weekend. I almost won the race, was leading on the final lap, but got held up by a backmarker from a different class and got passed. Second place for me.

We were in the low 1:31's. Without traffic I think 1:30's were possible. I haven't been down there in over 2 years. With a little more track familiarity that could come down more. A few years ago, when 125 GP was a big class down there, Vicky Jackson-Bell and company were doing 1:26s and 1:27s. So there's definitely more speed to be had.

1:31s; very nice. Was it a big class? Last Dec I think there was all of 3 in the F3 class.

It was a huge field of 8 bikes, which they considered a good turn out. It's pretty sad. They run 125 GP with 250 GP (AFM equivalents are F2 and F3). The 250 GP grid had maybe 16 bikes and that was mostly Aprilia cup bikes. There were some grids that only had 1 or 2 bikes. On Sunday, everyone gets 2 quick practice sessions and then they run 18 races without a break for lunch. The practice groups are divided up by displacement (0-500, 501-650, 651-open and F2-F1).
I'm going back down there for the December race. I hope it's dry and unseasonably warm

8 is actually respectful for them.
Good luck with the weather. Last year it was snowing on the grapevine on the way there. When I took the grid for my first race it was balmy 27. It was a painful race, literally.
