So a couple months ago I took a Thursday off and headed down to Hollister to ride my new TRX 450R. I had a great day riding and at the end of the day I went up the big hill next to the MX track, thats when things went wrong. I looped it and sat on the hill watching my 2 month old quad cart wheel down the hill. On the way down it didn't look to bad, didn't hit anything hard no parts flying off. But, just as it got to the bottom it did a beautiful double flip and landed square on the handle bars. This caused a nice shower of parts.

Damage: Bent Frame, steering stem, rear axle, radiator, bars, 2 wheels, assorted bodywork, and misc parts.

Service Honda is awesome, great prices and service.

I put the thing back together over the holiday weekend and rode it Sunday at Hollister. It runs as good as new. I didn't try the hill again, to many kids on 50's doing it. I hate to have little kids laughing at me if I don't make the hill again.

I have done everything at hollister but that hill, i talked to other guys on quads and they said don't do it unless you got 4wd. I almost did it last weekend cuz i saw some other quads doing it but i didn't.
Funny you talk about 50s doing it, i went up half way with my 88 with crappy tires. I'm sure i can do the whole thing now that i got my starcross tires.

Whens the next time you are going down their i will bring my 400. Your 450 looks sick with the camo

Thanks, the camo graphics do a great job of cover up the scratches on the tank and rear fenders.

On Sunday afternoon there were a few guys going up that hill on 50's, it took them forever to get to the top but they made it. I should have known better, I rarely climb hills like that. The day I crashed, it had just been graded and was in perfect shape. I figured it was the perfect day to give it a try, I was wrong. Oh well, the up side is I know the 450R inside and out now.

Probably won't go for a couple weeks, I'll be out of town for the next week. I'll let you know the next time we go. A buddy just bought a 04 Polaris Predator and I know he will want to ride bad.
Hollister is fun on a quad when it gets dry, I spend allday dirt tracking it around the corners. Its dusty but thats not that big a deal.

glad you came through it ok. i saw a guy get crushed some years back on a new honda quad flipped over backwards and landed on him at prarie city. I uess they just arent made for steep hills.
if im going to be on four wheels i want a roll bar for off road in fact i have a roll bar in my car just in case and it doesnt go offroad. at least not on purpose.

Two funny stories 'bout quads and that hill .... saw a guy on a Banshee loop on that hill, as it came back over he freaked out and tried to grab onto it ( like he was going to stop the quad from cart wheeling down ) ... needless to say, he got pretty jacked up!!

Another time, I saw a 4x4 quad make it up that hill in reverse!
Crazy quad riders :laughing !

BTW, Glad you came out OK with your crash, at least you got away from the quad. Your TRX is looking pretty good now :cool .

Actually I was sort of surprised how cheaply I got off, considering how much damage the crash did. It cost about $1700 for all the parts. I did most of the work myself and a friend helped out.

I didn't really need to hear about the 4X4 quad going up it in reverse. Damn show-offs.

Keshon, we're going down to Hollister tomorrow, Saturday. If you want to meet up we'll be on Radio Ridge between 9:00 and 9:30. Look for a grey Suburban with a huge black trailer and a weird copper color Ford Ranger. It will be me on the 450R and two buddies with Predators, one orange and the other is blue.

:burnout

i was camping in mendocino all weekend, i will try to make it out next time for sure

im going to hollister to rip up the trails on thursday if you can go?

Damn, I wish I could go. But I'll be at work. I'm thinking about going Saturday but the bike rally will be going on in Hollister and traffic will probably be a bitch.

Anyway, riding Saturday was great but really dusty. If your alone or out front its fine but if your behind someone you can't see anything. No one there for a Saturday and the weather was great.

i might leave it at home so i can fit more 50s in the truck
