while there are plugs @ some tracks, ya can't always rely on it. what do you use to power your warmers?

looking at a couple porter cable's right now. CH250 and CTE3000.

CH250:
2500wt, .45gal running on a honda engine. runs for a little over an hr. under full load. It's about $480 shipped. dB range around 76 or so i think.

CTE3000:
3000wt, 7.5gal running a tecumseh engine. runs for a little over 7hrs under full load. It's $444 shipped. dB unknown.

i'm leaning towards the CTE. unless you guys have other generator's you can recommend. must be at least 1200wts normal load (not max load). i'd like to get 1 for under $400 and somewhat quiet if possible.

Honda EU's are too expensive and don't put out enough wattage to run a set of CH wamers. costs almost $1k for 1 w/ enough juice. the 1000wt won't cut it since the CHs are running 600wt/warmer making it at least 1200wt/set.

Yamaha's are about the same price range for pretty much the same thing.

We have some but they are overkill. Kawasaki GE5000. They are Y2K leftovers and they are badass. Original retail price was $2700. Kawai discounted them to $1180. I have 5 or 6 left. I have run 3 sets of tire warmers and other items at the same time and have had watts to spare. Again overkill but they a ton of generater for the price.

haha, ya just a bit overkill. ;)

if you have a generator or can recommend 1 that'll run a set of CH warmers, let me know. i'd like to get 1 under $400 if possible and reasonably quiet.

Yah, I'd go for the "quiet" factor over the price factor. I have a coleman generator that I swear you can hear from about a mile away. It gets VERY annoying when all the pits are jammed together over a big weekend.

you ever get a dB rating for you coleman? would a mid-70ish dB range be acceptable? ever try putting a muffler or sound silencer on the generator? i hear it helps alot.

I've been thinking about welding on a spare muffler from a GSXR600 that I have lying around... but it's pretty low on the priority list right now.
