Below is the information I am sending to all of the Bay Area Motorcycle groups for informational purposes only.
I am also letting people know about the Motorcycle Technician program available at City College of San Franscisco at the Evans campus. Anyone intested in learning more about servicing their own motorcycle may want to check out the classes offered there.
Thank you for your time.
When: Thursday and Friday, June 1st and 2nd
9:30 am to 3:30 pm
Where: City College of San Francisco
1400 Evans Ave - Room 115
Cost: $100
This fee-based class will provide 13 female students with a sampling of the motorcycle program offered by CCSF. This is a beginner class taught by CCSF Motorcycle Instructor Lisa Duke.
The workshop will include:
-Systems Overview
-Tune-Up and Troubleshooting procedures
-Hands-on training
-Handouts
-Students can work on their own bikes, but need to bring their own oil, filter, etc.
This is a first come, first served class. Only the first 13 students who pay for the workshop will be allowed to attend.

Awesome! :thumbup
I clicked on the link - http://www.ccsf.edu/Resources/ATT/ + Motorcycle link. Then, it asked me to download the "ATT-CCSF website motorcycles.pub" file. Unfortunately, my computer couldn't open it. See below...

Yeah, that is a file created with MS Publisher, and unfortunately it is not the one for this workshop. I think David may not have posted that yet.
If you want, I can send you the flyer for the class as a .jpg file (zipped up of course) to your email.
Just let me know.

Skippy1989, are there any other future dates especially on weekends or evenings?
Thanks! :oink

Not for this workshop, but they might schedule more dates for this workshop if they get lots of people interested.
I don't think that they run these workshops on the weekends at all, but you might check with David Dias on that.
I do know that the MOTO 60 Intro to Motorcycle Mechanics class at CCSF (the semester class) is usually two nights a week or on Saturdays.

The original post has been updated to include the cost of the workshop.
Thanks to cassottobabe for pointing this out!

Update:
If anyone would like to take only one day of the workshop, instead of both, they can do so for half the price.
Please contact David Dias for more information (see the first post for contact information).

Hey just to let you know, the Workshop is this week and there are still seats available.
As I said above, if someone wants to just take one day of the workshop instead of both days, they can do that. The workshop is 3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab (in the workshop) each day.

Hooray for CCSF!
I continue to commend CCSF as a model for the rest of the nation. What a great opportunity!

I attended the workshop and it was an awesome opportunity! If you see this again, jump on it, ladies! We actually spent more time in the "lab," and Lisa structured everything to accommodate the specific work we wanted to do on our own bikes. (Hint: Take advantage of their lifts - HUGE difference!)
Even better, the workshop provided an overview of the opportunities available through CCSF and the wide range of equipment in their shop.
I suppose it shouldn't make a difference, but as a female with extremely little knowledge of tools and mechanics, I felt a lot more comfortable with the group being all women.
Skippy, just curious if you were one of the great assistants who was helping us? (With the brand new Sportster?)

Yep, that was me. I believe that you and I discovered the joys of the exhaust pipe placement on your Ducati when draining the oil. (correct me if that was not you).
I am glad that this workshop was a good experience for you. It was for me, because helping you all gave me a good idea if what I really "know" and don't know yet.
All of you jumped right in and started doing the work on your bikes, with mostly just guidance from us. Wow, that was impressive!

Yep, one and the same. That would seem to be a bit of a flaw in design, huh? (In retrospect, if I had read up on the Ducati Monster forum, I would have seen that a little preparation was in order!) Thanks again for all the awesome tips and assistance!
