That Pashnit site rocks, I planned a recent weekend ride to Tahoe using that site. We went on some awesome roads. Hwy 108 over Sonora Pass was great!

We did Highway 36 from Fortuna to Red Bluff all because of Pashnit. Here it is (http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway36.htm) 140 miles or solid roller coaster. Then on to Lassen.

OMG! That road is INCREDIBLE! We only did the first 50 or so miles of it, but holy crapola....WELL worth the ride....

5-0 were SUPER hot on 101 tho, mainly for pot-heads but never seen so many on a deserted freeway. But once off there, didn't see a 1.

I knwo a LOT of cops who ride. They are all cool about it, and like going a little 'fast' too sometimes. Remember, though, there is a time and place for everything. A freind of mine will ONLY ride on the track under controlled conditions because he knows how much he will hurt himself if he rides fast on public roads.

BTW, one of my renters was riding a cuiser down Highway 9 toward Saratoga. Him and his girlfriend, or wife...almost got side swipped by a rider 'having fn and mindning his own business'...then about twoi turns up, I guess teh guu decided to pass on a corner and hit another Motorcycle Rider head on. LUCKILTY...both riders we alert and awake at the scence (the guy on the other bike wanted to beet the ^%$# out of the speeder...but I think his arm was broken.)

It's OK if you want to risk your OWN neck...just risk MINE!

Found this stretch of highway back in the late '80 when looking for an alternatate route off the normal 299 Redding to Arcata, I5 to 101 travels. Too many construction stops on the 299, so I cut over vis the 3 to the 36. What a blast. From then on, every time I drove to Ferndale to see family, I'd opt for the 36. Never did it on a bike, but in my RX7, I've done it in 3 hours. Paved all the way, and very little services(Mad River I believe has a gas station). Hell, the locals drive fast thru there too.

I recommend taking a trip and doing 36 one way, then turn around and go back.

Local back roads are becoming too local.

Great link :applause

Just like to add my 2 cents

Thanks to the Law Enforcement Officers for risking their lives for us...daily

Thanks for getting some of the squids off the road & thanks for getting some of the drunks off the road, they are more of a threat to our riding than the LEO's who are just doing their job

Keep up the good work

ok, now you can bash me for being a sensible considerate rider:twofinger

Thought you guys might enjoy a pix of Big Pines Highway that snakes its way from near Palmdale up to Wrightwood, CA on the north side of the San Gabriel mountains. It also connects to The Angeles Crest Highway (2).

If you guys really like the race track then the next best thing is skagg springs rd by lake sonoma. Off camber/camber, long sweepers and a few hair pins makes this road a roller coaster. The road is pretty long and wide too. Best road in my book. Good place to carve corners!!!!!!

Wow, LEO bashing :shocker Guess you all forget about the men and women lost in 9-11 :mad. Oh, that’s right nothing like that happened on the west coast. :wow If it did, you wouldn’t have the same feeling about the local law enforcement.:thumbup Their the ones going in to save lives while everyone one else was beat feeting in the opposite direction, I can’t forget the men /women of the Fire Department also. :wackyiraq What’s that old saying in Berretta? Don’t do the Crime if you can’t to the time, or something like that! :p

The LEO’s out there are doing their jobs just like everyday you do yours. But, theirs comes with stinger. Yes, there are good and bad in every profession so deal with it and somewhat obey the laws set forth in this great country :flag! :applause

I used to persue California Motorcycle Roads. I even paid for the first year. I haven't been back since. It's too bad but it's not worth 20 bucks a year or whatever they're charging.

RhythmRider

To me, if the twenty bucks a year keeps the site running, it's worth it. I don't think he's making a profit.
