What kind of mileage do you think you've done in your riding "lifetime"

I would estimate a little less than 100,000. I started off slow, But I really started racking up some distance the last few years. (It's nice not to be in a place that snows in the winter anymore)

Licensed since '94.
Really riding since '99.
Two totalled bikes ('96 was my fault, '99 not at fault). Two other minor incidents. One other extremely minor incident.
Over 70k miles or primarily commuting.
Yes, I see myself continuing to ride until I no longer can.
No, I won't be stopping soon.

I took my first MSF class and got my endorsement in 1986. Only because you had to have those two things before you could ride your bike on post. I don't think I would have done it otherwise, so I'm sure glad it was required.

So I guess this is my 20th anniversary.

2-3 years somethin' like that, ask Liam he got me started. I can tell you that I'll not count the years, cause they're already flyin' by way too frickin' fast. Had two kids, time quickens; got my first bike all concept of time is lost. Summer's gone in a flash of flying tentacles and half naked squid. Winter isn't much better, because I enjoy the solitude of the lighter traffic. Concluding, it's all gonna be gone way too fast, don't count it, enjoy it!

BTW, I'll be riding to the bitter end!

2004-present= a lil over 2 years

about 40k miles

ride rain or shine (bike only means of transpo)

Furthest i've gone was to San Diego (have ridden to reno in the pouring rain and not fun!!!)

Been through rain storms, hail winds, minor goat trails but no snow

Have not been to the track yet, but plan to

Have had some accidents

Took an intro class to moto mechanics

Preformed minor/basic services on my bikes

Have a couple of books on becoming a better rider as well as mech books

As long as I live I see myself riding, and learning all I can to becoming better

I don't see myself stopping soon...well unless I of course die

i got my M1 in january after a long hiatus from a youth of off road trail riding/hare scrambles.

it's even more fun now. i feel like i'm getting away with something everytime i snick the gear shifter into 1 and pull out onto the street :) :)

you see, we used to connect a lot of trails using county roads when i was a kid. i guess that feeling hasn't left me yet :)

And I don't think I'll ever quit.

Just went to Borders today and picked up a copy of "Proficient Motorcycling." I'm not nearly done yet but it's really good, I would recommend it to other n00bs as a highly educational read.

I even sold my car and am currently enjoying the savings in gas--get at least 55mpg on my 250-- and no insurance(not required in Florida) or car payments. It helps that I can borrow my mother's clunker whenever I need to make a supermarket run or when it's raining cats and dogs. I got it good right now as far as catching up on my bills.

3 years, three different bikes. I think about 21-22,000 miles... I'm still a newbie.

I was successful at getting a friend into riding though, he bought a Wee Strom and has put about 250 miles on it so far. Then it snowed. :)

Quite a few that started as kids... that is cool. And so many that are long timers or dedicated everyday peeps.. Damn. That is pretty hardcore.

Staying with it for so long.. it becomes part of who you are.. who your friends are.. what you do on vacation.. for fun... your video game selection.. on and on ..

This activity/sport/etc... can grab you by the soul...

When I am 90 ... crazy.. not able to walk... someone pick me up at the home... throw me on the back and take me for a ride... Once the helmet goes on... the years come off.. I should remember..

If I don't and shit my pants... apologies in advance...:teeth

47 years. Lots of dirt and all street. Many crashes, latest one, a 70 mph getoff between alices and la honda on 4th of July about 4 years ago. I have an artificial knee, a bad ticker and a good attitude about riding. I rode to Texas the last two years for fun. As long as I'm capable of throwing a leg over the saddle, I'll still be riding.

Am curious to know who has been riding over 10 years rain or shine as their only means of transpo and still plan to ride that way. That's a good one, cus it will give us freshies some hope that riders can ride to live and live to ride another day until they die of some other cause.

Almost 11 years MC only. Current commute is 60 miles/day Vallejo <-> Oakland on 80. Occasional work-from-home day if weather is truly horrible. Fiance has been MC only 6 or 7 years, same commute. Possible if you don't have kids, but the temptation to get a 4-wheeler does increase with age.

That is what I thought.. after dirt bikes as a kid street bike as a teen and then as a young adult Motocross racing and Roadracing I felt it was time to cruise.. it lasted 6 years.. and then back into sportbiles and dirtbiking again.. and now motards.. All depends on what old is... a state of nature or a state of mind ;)

mtrcyclgrinsmom ... I am so sorry for your loss :rose I have kids all around that age and I can feel what it could be like..and that is scary for sure. I am sure you treasure your time together.

And yes as VTRweasel said.. add two years to whatever I said before..

I've been riding off and on since 83, daily for the last 8 or 9 yrs. Don't really see myself stopping anytime soon as I seem to keep having more fun and getting more and more into it the longer I ride!

since June of 2005 when I first jumped on my cousin's bike and rode that or friends off and on until I bought my F4 in February of 2006.. I've been riding at least 3-5 days a week since then and have put around 6000+ miles on her.

I've been interested in motorcycles, specifically sportbikes since high school. I just never had the cash to afford my own ride until the past couple of years. I lost interest for a time in the late 90's when a dear friend of mine lost his life in a motorcycle accident. I swore off bikes until 2004 when me and my ex-wife first separated and i got bit by the "bug" after my cousin let me try out his bike in LA. I had second thoughts due to my friend's death, but I eventually came around :D

Hopefully, I'll never give up riding. :thumbup

I'm almost 22 years old now, started riding when I was 17. Started with the MSF course, then gradually taught myself through videos, books, training in the neighborhood and empty parking lots on my ex250. Pending any unforeseen incidents, I hope to continue riding long into my future.

This evening, after checking my moto mileage, I discovered that tomorrow will mark my 100th ride as a motorcyclist. So if we're speaking of months, I've been riding for a solid three months now.

gods, i can't believe it: less than 5 months, from buying myself my first bike, hardly riding it the first month cuz i was scared of it, teaching myself how to ride, exploring all OVER the bay area for 3 months, and then it dying on me, a month-long death of macabre oil-expelling proportions, just when it was starting to feel really, really good.
