Cinqo de Mayo... ride to downtown SJ?

hey folks, last year for the 5th of may i was with a friend and we rode to downtown san jose just to watch the festivities. while down there we met up with many other riders and we parked along santa clara and watched the parade of cars going by, music and everything else.

if anyone wants to get a group together to head down there and use this as a little club get together i would like to join up. it gets packed down thee but people all were very friendly. last year i just sat with the folks from most hated and talked about bikes and the track day that i saw them at.

aside from the thugs and stuff, the cops did not say a word to anyone on a bike. they were mainly there to keep peace in the streets i think.

anyways, kind of a cultural experience and another way to take part in the festivities. we'll meet down ther and hog a street; )

I had no idea the SJ was going to be so packed last year - I had to drive into downtown for work and it took a freakin' HOUR to get off the freeway and into the parking garage!! I saw a bazillion sportbikes parked along Santa Clara, too.

I might be up for it - gotta play that one by ear, though.

Same here..we should all plan on crashing at a San Jose BARF member's house (whoever has a garage)!

just dont sit around there at night, every year the crowds loot and riot. and keep your women with u, last year a number of women got sexually assaulted. Not tryin to be a downer :) i have been to a few of them during the day, pretty fun, a lot of nice "scenery." :twofinger i would offer my garage, but theres no room to park anything.

I would definitely be interested in getting a group together and cruise downtown. There should be a lot of other sportbikers down there. I think that Saturday night would be a fun night to go out there too.

If anyone wants to ride Saturday night, meet at the Wenerschnitzel on Santa Clara Street around 9PM. This place is around 24nd street I believe. We can then head towards downtown or King & Story roads.
