Due to the low turnout for the 8/27 trackday Dion and I
have decided that 9/24 might be our last trackday.

Sorry

Nope...we didn't even get 30 paid riders.

We have to pay $100 out of our pockets to
cover the cost of the track.

Bummer. I never thought I'd see that happen.

Anyway. I just signed up for Ross & me for Sept 24th.

Hopefully this is just an August blip and September will be back to normal.

That's a bummer guys. All business ventures will have ups and downs. Too bad you couldn't ride it out.

I'm gonna chime in on this:

Rich and I talked a bit about this, and there are a few reasons why we may make the September date the last trackday. There are many factors: the riding season (in general), rider interest and for me, personal reasons.

My personal vision of the SMH trackdays was that I wanted them to be special: exclusive. In my opinion, rider interest has been down due to the "Oh, I'll make the next one..." attitude. This is a club trackday, meaning, that we go as SMH and BARF members. I want each and every trackday to be a treat for you riders who really don't get to get out to the track often due to work schedules, family and other responsiblities.

The riding season will be ending at the end of fall, which gives me more of a clue in to the fact that riders' focuses will shift toward other things... especially when the weather gets bad and the holidays arise. I really want the trackdays to coincide with the "riding season". I know that for many of you, there is no "season"... there is not one for myself in that regards... however, it's the shift of attention that may cause for a lower and lower turnout overall. I also don't want people to be subject to bad weather.

I have my personal reaons, as well. First, I am going through a pretty nasty divorce with an evil, demon woman. This is very distracting, and my focus is to try and get her out of my life as soon as possible with as little pain and money as I can. To all you young men out there - never get married!!

I also will be getting very busy with work as I am a statutory employee with a Fraternal Insurance Company - which essentially means I am self-employed. I am one of the top agents in California for my company, and I need to end the 4th quarter with a bang and qualify for all the incentive goodies. Again, this will pull me away from SuperMoto, somewhat. Work - it's too much work.

Let's not end the trackday season on a sad note. October is the 1 year anniversary of SMH, and I would like to make our last trackday a bit of a celebration with cake, raffles and prizes (hello, sponsors?) and what-not. I really want to make it fun, and I'll talk to Rich to see if we can raise the rider limit (if we can get 'em!!). Let's not forget... we always have next year to look forward to!!!

I want to extend a BIG thank you for all those who have turned out, especially to those who have shown up to every one (you should be cashing in on your free trackday!). It has been a great season of riding and we will do it again next year.

Hurry up and get signed up for the September 24th date!!

Sorry to hear about your divorce D. Hope it all works out for you.

I wouldnt mind paying more for sunday trackdays if signups are low. Mondays are no good for me so a little more cash to ride on the weekends is worth it for me.

I think we all appreciate the effort you both put forth to get these set up, I for one do.

From the first post i thought it was going to be the last one EVER, but it seems just that this Season is over, but it will happen again next year. I hope that is the case as i really have fun riding the track.

PS Flat Tires suck.

So I'm not going to Chicago. Regardless of whether I can ride or not (bike + body), I'm taking a spot. If I can't ride, I'll bring someone who can, since I'll be there to hang out anyway.

it was a bad weekend, there was a race the night before and a race next weekend at borel. maybe people just didn't have the money for it. the track days are cool for people that work.

Evolution Suspension has been very generous in offering me some exclusive prizes -- a free trailer ride for whatever bike I mangled that day! :laughing

I'm travelling to Europe on Friday and couldn't risk an injury yesterday, hence my absence. I'm signing up for the September day though. I'm aching to ride my big piggy again!

I hope what you guys are thinking is 'this is the last one for this year' and not 'ever.'

Maybe scale them back to 3 a year to make them extra special events.

You know my deal D, otherwise I'd be out there. I get hurt now and my wife will never forgive me.

Okay, let me clarify...

AUGUST 27TH WAS NOT THE LAST-TRACKDAY-EVER!!! September 24th is still a go! We ARE still going to do trackdays in the future, in fact, we want to make them better and hopefully we can get a deal with Dixon (everybody say it together - "D I R T").

Richie and I are not a business - we are simply club trackday organizers. We didn't intend to make any money off of this (I don't want to pay taxes on a hobby). Basically, we wanted to just get a bunch of guys and gals together to ride... that's it. So, this is not like we are having a "slow business time" because that's not what we are.

However, as trackday organizers, we also have to feel it out, and decided whther it is worth our time to put anything together in the fall and winter months. With a slight decline in rider turnout all around, it would be foolish for us to put anything together and get stuck with a fatty bill because 20 people show up. Remember - I'm a supermoto rider, too... and thrift is a friend of mine.

My main concern for the future are to keep rider interest up... and my own personal goal is to introduce DIRT to the scene. The dirt issue is something that is really bugging me because I really, really, really want to ride true supermoto, and that means we need to get dirty.

As a former sprotbile rider (I know, I know... THE SHAME!) I used to attend trackdays put on by my buddy, Jimil from the Canyon Strafers. He ran into similar problems of low rider turn-out and I really don't want to get into that type of situation.

So, are we still on for September 24th? YES! Will we continue to host trackdays in the future? OF COURSE! Is there a possiblilty of a trackday in the dead of winter? HELL, DOESN'T HURT TO ASK!

Folks, these days are for YOU, and Rich and I want to make them the best experience possible. I've learned a lot this past year, and I want to grow this to something where people are setting aside $50 for a SMH trackday every month... like it's burning in their pocket and they have to PayPal it over right away.

I'll see you all on Sept. 24th. We have about 20 spots left, and they are filling up very fast.

Get in where you fit in!!

I was just thinking what would happen if I were to run a 14:52 on that thing. Top speed would be 69 mph.
I would probably flip it upside down too.
