not even like, 30 seconds of seeing him use it? sort of anti-climactic.

There's nothing anticlimactic about Terry Bozzio. If you want to hear him play on that monstrous set, search his name on youtube. He's taken the concept of drum solo to a whole new level. One of the coolest things he done is perform with the Louisville ballet company. They choreographed dances to a couple of his drum solos, then they performed a few completely improvised pieces together. He's a hell of a drummer.

I saw this being played at the Bozzio, Minnemann, Wackerman tour (BMW) at SCSU.
Actually watching Minnemann play was one of those things you experience and it's like "Do I take the red pill or the blue pill?"
Bozzio likes to think of playing this set like he's playing a piano (which is technically a percussion instrument) or think of it like playing mallets. All the drums are tuned perfectly to a certain note.

Philly Joe Jones solo on Tin Tin Deo (Art Pepper meets the Rythm Section Album) is playing the piano on a minimalist trap set.

I would agree, and so would Terry Bozzio I'm sure. Two different approaches, both beautiful.
