Hey, I saw a Ford Crown Vic with lights that appear to be typical for unmarked cars, but it happened to also have regular license plates, not the CA Exempt ones.
Is it possible that this was a legitimate police cruiser, or was this some asshole who enjoys trying to look like a cop?
Also, it should be noted that there were both blue and red lights behind the grill.

Lots of our unmarked cars do not have exempt plates. So yeah, it was probably the real deal.

They're "cold plated" and will not show a DMV return if you run them thru the system (usually).
We accidentally turned CHP on to a Sheriff's bait car we thought had bad reg. CHP towed it. That was a GOOD story...:teeth

No, and those goddamned blue windshield-washer nozzle lights aren't legal either.
WTF are people thinking?

therefore, if the car has lights behind the grill, and they are there legally, its a cop car

Could be feds... true, but anyone who can drive one can most likely arrest you, no?

The good part of that story was when the tow-truck driver got busted for burglary after he broke into the car at the storage lot, and set off the bait tag inside.
SO was pissed until the figured out what happened. They forgave us and CHP after that.:teeth
