Qs about rear shock r6 2001

Came up through another thread that the 03-04 rear shock is the same fit for the 99-02....
the penske and ohlins have different part numbers but the descriptions are the same...

Does anyone know if I can search 03-04 models as well as 99-02 when I look for some aftermarket shocks????

I know that the Ohlins shock for the 1999-2002 and 2003-2004 are different... for a fact. I bought a 2000 R6 trackbike that came with an Ohlins shock and the first thing i did was to see if it would work on my 2004... and it doesnt. I can take detailed pics of both setups for ya but its a lost cause. the frame and swingarms on both generations are vastly different.
