So, for the sake of curiosity and bragging rights,
Has anyone figured out their top speed on the back straight?
(top gear ratio, sprocket gear ratio / revs / tire diameter, etc.)

Also, thanks for not crashing too much this past weekend!

According to my gearing spreadsheet, with my 15/44 gearing and my 180 michelin slick on the SV, it would hit 151mph at 10,500 rpm, but I don't think it quite got that high. I'd guess it probably got to say 9500 or 10k which would be 136 and 144 respectively.
It was a really long straight on an SV. :-)

On my RS250 the gearing chart said I was doing 142mph in 6th at 12,500 rpm. I was revving to 13,200, so I would guess a little over 150, maybe 155.

heard a rumor that someone had a radar gun out there on saturday... clocking the 1000's at 180+

The speedo on my 1000 indicated 184. It doesn't account for changes in gearing, but plugging that into a simple formula comes out to about 160. I was nearly last. I'm sure the guys at the front were going a lot faster.

Fast enough that I was having trouble taking a nap.

That puts me at 135ish, cuz you were eating pavement on me at a rapid pace... good thing is I could keep that same speed through all of Riverside...:teeth

After having the damned 250's power down the straight on me and park it in front of me for the past 1 1/2 years while I was on a 125, it was fun to do the same to you Jay. Haaa Haaa!!!

I heard that Saturday morning in the workers meeting, so I'm thinking it was BS; plus I was at turn 7 all day and never saw anyone with a gun.
Fast enough that when the piston soft siezed just after i tipped it into Riverside WOT in 5th and the rear locked up I damn near highsided! Thank god it let go but somehow I think I'll always remember the squealing of the tire and the rear end starting to come around as I struggled to keep the bike up. Just before I went to pull in the clutch it freed and I was rolling but WHEW THAT WAS CLOSE! Must have been doing in the area of buck twenty on the lil' 125 at that point. Needless to say I was a might bit slower through there for the rest of the weekend.....
From now on it's A747 all the way for me. Motul can take that shit and stuff it. I don't care if the A747 is $23 a liter it's worth not repeating that experience!
