How about early Saturday morning? We usually park at the end of the parking across the road from the TT track (coming from the Ranger's station, pass the TT track and turn left). I like Saturday morning because then I have time Sat afternoon to clean/work on the bikes and Sunday to do... NOTHING!!! :teeth
Astrocreep will be there with Ruth's brand new CFR150F!

This is what our truck and our bikes look like (except that I removed all the street-legal stuff on mine)

More recent pict :)
I am gonna sell the YZ soon, as soon as I get the new KTM. It is a street legal YZ400F and it kicks butt. It is so powerful that I have to put a big free play in the throttle so that I don't loose control. No, I did not have to do that on the R1! :x

JoeBar
01-29-2003, 06:46 PM
dunno what the amphtheater is, but yup we park next to the kids track!
The amphthitre is the structure with the stage and benches at the turnaround by the kids track.

Dan, are you racing at the Hollister National in group C? We are thinking about doing that too. Have you done it before? How is it?
Actually my wifes cousin is the promoter of the Hollister National(P&D promotions). My wife will be working the sign ups on Saturday with her mom. Ive done that race about 5 years now and its a blast. Its the toughest Hare Scramble ive ever ridden but what do you expect from a National event.

I raced the Praire City GP last week and It wasnt that bad.( The c-class is part newbie (me Class C-Vet), part couch racer part sand-bager fast guys),Techanical but not bad (except for my bobo) I heard this track is Tech/fun/long so I will be going for it! once the race gets going you will find a grove to ride in I spent most of the time at the PCGP with some one who I was lapping with. I'm heading home tonight to put on my big tank on the old RM. if you want more info PM me I will be working tomarow or call 925-250-7463

We raced at the Lake Elsinore GP a few months ago. How would you compare this weekend's race to it?
PS: We've seen A LOT of sandbaggers at the Lake Elsinore GP... :( :wow

Calvin, make sure you try dirt riding ONLY if you are ready to become totally addicted. It is as addictive as trackdays (or sex ;)), you try it once, you can't stop thinking about the next time you'll do it again...:laughing :laughing :p
JoeBar there are sandbaggers at all off road races, especially motocross! District 36 which is our district in NorCal for off road racing has a good handle on it. That is unless your just the ocasional racer. If you race the series or a number of races and do well I E top 5 then D-36 will move you up say to B class if your in C class. But... there will always be sandbaggers so you just have to be faster;) Damn, now im wanting to race Saturday:( im getting the itch:teeth
Calvin, ill take you riding. I have two bikes you can ride the DRZ:thumbup But beware, JoeBar is right it IS addicting. Ive not ridden since last summer and I will be addicted all over again after this weekend.

Let's do it! We could ride mellow pace Sat. morning to warm up, and race at 1:30 PM to represent BARF! ;)
Jennifer and I are total beginners. We've been lapped a countless number of times at the Elsinore GP :teeth

Calvin, do it! The DRZ is a very smooth 4-strokes bike. Perfect for a first timer...
Id have to clear it w/ the wife. Ive not raced a scramble since I broke my back 2 years or so ago. Im not the type of person that can just hold back and have fun. As soon as the gun goes off and I drop the clutch something in my brain just takes over and posess me. Its all or nothing. Having said that im still thinking seriously about it:thumbup Its going to be a nice day, the course is fun as hell....

Cal, if DrZ is ok with it, you should just take his DRZ to next Doc Wong's dirt clinic on Feb. 15th. Jennifer and I did it, it is a great way to learn the basics and have fun!

If I have my KTM by then, you could take my YZ but it is not very newbie friendly... Would be great for the photos of you though (See example below)... :laughing :laughing :laughing

9 am at the Amphtheater?!?! I will be leaving Danville(east Bay about 6-7 am I will see you guys there!! Team BARF OFF ROAD!!! I will not be pre ridding however I do recomend that we head straight to sign in. Praire City had a 1 hr line. By the time I got through it I had 30 minutes to gas up dress up and run to the start line!!!!! Plus you guys need to be numbered/ bar coded Which class will you guys be in ? I'm in C- vets
Dan
JoeBar
01-31-2003, 09:46 AM
Jennifer and I will be in C-Vet and our friend Belinda will be in C-Women. Look for a Tundra with three bikes DRZ250, YZ400 and MXC400).
The Sign Up for race #3 starts at 11:00 AM. Since DrZ's wifes cousin is the promoter of the Hollister National (P&D promotions) BARFers won't have to wait in line for the sign in!!! Right DrZ? ;) :laughing

Pierre & DRZ
I just copied your map for the forum. so I will see ya at the parking spot

What about numbers? What do you guys use? I have black electrical tape...
Its been so long im not sure what the format is now. I used to run white backgrounds with black #'s for C class. Dan just raced, he should know. Dan?
If i remember correctly they sell #'s at the race im just not sure what im going to do about backgrounds, mine are black right now.
Sign ups for race #3 start at 10:30. If we get to Hollister Hills at 9 we should be able to ride around for 45 min-1 hour(put around, warm up) then head to the race. Its only 1 mile up the road.

Sounds good. I will try not to be late then...
Jen and I have white backgrounds already. I can bring some white background sticker tomorrow that you will just have to cut to a shape that fits your KX.

Man, we were sooo not ready for this! Now I understand the difference between a district level race and a NATIONAL race! Jen and I are totally beat up. Jen had to quit during her last lap. She twisted her knee pretty bad and this morning it is all swallen and red/purple - not pretty. I am taking her to the hospital today to have someone look at it. I too am sore everywhere. Both my knees and my back hurt!
I have only one thing to say: When is the next one!!! I like the Hare Scrambles better than the Enduros. No time keeping, everybody starts at the same time and you go as fast as you can for two hours! I like banging handlebars in the tight turns and getting yield at by riders lapping me :teeth
Dan, DrZ, it was great to see you and to ride with you. I want to do it again! DrZ thanks for waving at me when you lapped me! ;)
I talked to the guy that filmed me when I flew over my handlebars in the nasty steep slipery downhill. He sells his videos for $30 (+shipping + tax). Would you be interested in sharing the cost? (it was an expensive weekend :() If yes, give me your race numbers and I will ask for a video with all of us...
I will need at least a week to recover from this but I can't wait to DO IT AGAIN!!! ;) :teeth :cool

Well what can I say except that was FUN AS HELL:thumbup Before this weekend Ive not raced a Hare Scramble since summer '98 and now I cant wait for the next one:teeth
I woke up today and the only muscle that didnt hurt on my body was in my eyesocket:laughing I too will need a week to recoup, but what a blast. I think that was the funnest course layout ive ever ridden.
I would pitch in for the video for sure Pierre. Ill PM you my number. I hope Jennifer gets well soon.
Dan, how are you feeling today. You need to rest that groin and hammy to be in shape for Carnegie!:teeth ;)
