Duke, that was you?

I was at the mid-point of the straight when I saw your little manuver. At first I was thinking, "wow that guy's got some mad skills sliding into that corner like that", then when it whipped back to the right, I was thinking, "man this surely has the potential to get ugly...

Then you whipped back to the left and began your ascent...The way you landed on your back looked pretty harsh. Glad you're ok.

Best highside of the day.

Yup, Senna was there too. I just didn't realize that was you. And I "think" there was another person crazy enough to enjoy riding in the rain with us too. I didn't mind the rain at all, but I wish it could have been a little warmer. I really appreciate all of the hard work and stress that goes into putting these days together for us. LOADS of fun.

Thanks Steve. :thumbup

I actually had a F*CKIN' BLAST yesterday before the rain began falling. I haven't ridden the Husky in 4-5 months, and with the help of Rob @ Evolution Suspension, it was running like a champ. The clutch was being a little bizatch, but I was able to ride it.

The dirt was a new, fun adventure that I sure would like next year. That was the first time I ever experienced arm-pump; even when I'm dirt riding I don't get it, but yesterday I did. I really think it puts a whole new perspective on what we can do there now.

Riding the KLR this whole time as opposed to my Husky took a bit to get used to. I wasn't used to the throttle of my Husky and I really forgot how friggin fast that bike is.

Thanks to everybody for coming out... and now that I have a working bike, I'm hooked again :teeth.

I think that was us! You pulled up and gave us a nod and when I saw your bike I said to my brother "knobbies? This guy needs to get with the program!"

Thanks Dion for another Awesome day! Too bad you didnt have the helmet cam running when I went by you and then proceeded tuck the front! I would have loved to have seen it from your angle. And yes that Husky is FAST!

When you went by, you were riding HOT... I saw the bike shimmy'ing before you "planned" to enter the dirt. When you went by I was, like "YAHHHOOOOOO!!!!" then I saw you fall and I was, like "...OOOOO - OOOWWWW!!"

Yeah I'd been pushing my luck there pretty much all day since that was one of my favorite spots to pass. I was spinning the rear and skipping the front and it all felt pretty comfortable. But it took more to get by you then I expected. By the time I got past you I was going quite a bit faster than usual and I ran outta talent. It was still damn fun trying to run you down. I was hoping to get by you and have a little battle. Maybe next time. :thumbup

The trackday was a ton of fun. It was my first Hooligan's trackday and I am really glad I attended, a bunch of great people and riders showed up to battle the track and the weather and I think everyone left happy, despite the downpour.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and more importantly to all the Hooligans who made the day possible.

Ride hard, ride fast,

Jake

PS. I got my biggest riding complement ever, I was bumped out of C class and ended the day with the A group (despite a tucked front end, nearly being decapitated by an Aprilia, and a two mile per hour highside)!

Jake, dude... you were jamming!!!

The C group is really for those not wanting to go fast or can't go fast (yet). Glad you found your session.

:laughing Yeah that was me alright! I think what happened (in my mind anyway) was I tried to downshift two gears I popped the clutch and realized I only got one shift down so I pulled in the clutch again to slam another gear and that's probably where the bike went back to upright, I popped the clutch and the bike went the other way and by then I was too deep into the turn and I just felt the bike whip me off like a rag doll. I did hit the ground pretty hard and even my helmet made contact but nothing major. I was saved by the under armor I had on. Today I don't feel any pain except for maybe a stiff neck from it getting jolted back when I hit.

The funny part is my video cam was on. It was mounted to the bars and all it saw was left right left right ground.

Soon after that in the same session my chain wrapped around the roller and I had to leave the bike on the track to get some tools to remove the rear wheel to get the chain unstuck. Then on the next session I loose my master link :mad Thanks to Sennasixty8 for having parts or my day would have been done.

It was not a pretty day for The 150 Mafia. :x

I shot 1.62 gigs of Starbucks-shake induced video for you guys. (Thank gawd for Sony anti-shake technology) I wish I had the ktm in order to ride. Anyway, if the baby takes enough naps I might actually get to edit that stuff down. Looked like a ton of fun and was miffed at myself I missed the dirt. I'll post the link when I finally git 'er done.

Great trackday, even after crashing and getting a flat. No harm done in the crash, just a little to much throttle coming off the dirt onto the pavement. Onebadscot caught the whole thing on his helmet cam.

I can't wait for the next one.

It was fun, I didn't have the confidence to push as hard as I did in the previous Hooligan days because it was so cold. Had a huge front end slide in the last right before the dirt section and that calmed me a bit. :barf
I was also a quivering, lip biting, wattered eyes passenger over the jumps before fast guy Harry [High Speed] gave me some much needed advice. Once I started gripping the bike with my legs and keept a neutral throttle over the jumps the experience improved quite a bit.
By the end of the day only place I had a problem with was the the dirt to pavement left hand. Never got to get comfortable at anyting more but "I give up, I don't wana crash crawl" there.
Can't wait for the next one :)

Sounds like everyone had fun and we'll have lots of video and photos to remember it. I wish my helmet cam was working when Pat and then Bert came around me. It looked pretty cool from my point of view. And Jake was flying 'till we were on the jumps and he decided to crash rather than take me out. (thanks Jake!) Definitely an "A" group rider.

Lots of good battles and fun in Stockton. Maybe we ought to take Jeremy's (Reno's road course mgr.) invitation and plan a day @ Reno this spring? They're planning on two Mondays a month and two SM-USA races this summer.

I had great half-trackday! Thanks for putting it together Dion, I was really hoping to get up there yet this year after not having a bike all summer. This may be worse than that heroin addiction I kicked a few years ago, I think I need just one more fix...when's the next one?

I especially liked the doubles, although I would suggest that they not be staggered next time... a bit wider if you will so as not to have the lines somehwhat crossing. There was a few times when I squared off the corner to get drive for the doubles, and came fairly close to someone taking the 'middle' line that drifted near the landing of the double. just food for thought.

I'll be back for more, scrappin' pegs and slingin' dirt.

ps. Mungus - we had a couple great sessions, cheers!

:hand The four finger braking move in the dirt was a panick induced reflex. The Aprillia owner behind me decided to crash rather than run me over. He said his front tire was aiming at the back of my cranium. :applause

nadrojp - it was me who said you were ready to dice it up in B group. I sent you a PM about some pics that you said you got of me. Since it was my first Supermoto day ever I need to see all the stuff I was flailing on!

By the way. Very good day. Has all the fun of Roadracing and the dirt and jumps of MX. May be my new sport.

Anyone want a tricked out GSXR750 race ready bike?

I hear it's good form when both your feet come off the pegs, or when the seat hits you in the ass. Is this true? :teeth

When we were kids we called that a "flying W", but in the world of freestyle jumping I'm pretty sure they call it something else. Not that what I saw several people do would qualify as a "freestyle" move, involentary loss of control with a Holy Mary save (usually) would describe it better!! I've done it too many times to count!!!:laughing

Thanks Dion, I had a bad turkeyday, and this trackday really helped lift my spirts.

Glad just to make it, with the parts showing up on friday. I was hooked on the trackday after one lap with the B's. I got left behind on every stright. But the old xrl made it upright all day. The pixs where great. My video was ok for the C group ride, not so good for the B runs:cry What the video showed me was how much time you can lose with just one bad line choice, I had a few.

Practice makes prefect! when do we go again!
