If daily riding is riding through skateparks, jumping curbs, burning out, wheelie'ing, stoppie'ing, making sportbikes look silly as you go by on your 45HP "dirt bike", jumping railroad tracks, sliding through dirt, wearing dirt bike gear on the street, wheelie'ing, riding up and down stairs, wheelie'ing...
Then it really doesn't get old.

I never get tired of walking out of some place and seeing a couple peeps having a discussion about the Duke. I enjoy answering any questions, starting it up, pulling away, popping the front end up and, then turning backwards and flipping them off in a knack-knack wheelie! I just love that...

I don't do half the shenanigans that these hooligans get up to, and I still prefer riding my XR over my SV. I don't like splitting on it all that much, just because it's a bit wider than my SV's bars, but once traffic opens a little, the thing's light and easy to get around on.

If you get something like a Husky 610 is should be cool. I would not daily ride a 510. It would be fun changing the oil and checking the valves a couple times a week.

Due to some logistical concerns in regards to getting out of town quickly last Wednesday, I found myself riding my 450 EXC to work. While it was fun, a 450 with DOT knobbies (Gripsters came off in anticipation of a 4-day dual-sport ride up on the Lost Coast)
would not be my first choice for crossing the Bay Bridge every day.
Not to mention the bars were the perfect height and width for smacking truck and SUV mirrors on the way home...oops!
If it weren't for the bridge, I'd probably commute on it a lot more, although it's super-fun to catch air on Harrison going up to the BB entrance. I thoroughly enjoy riding it around town. I'm afraid I'd lose my license if I rode it every day, though.

I commute on my xrl crossing the baybridge. I split everyday, rain or shine. Counting the sport bike thats 20+ years! It is much better than it was in the 80's. People would open doors, throw sh**!, ect.. Now "most" people will make room for you. I have only hit 3 mirrors with the xrl. Get handgaurds!, beware of older trucks and cars(pre breakway mirrors), and try to make eye contact. Don't cork others, just pull over.
Don't be cheap, get the damn handgaurds, they work!

I have Moose Handgaurds on the KTM and Cycra Pro-Bends on the WR. They don't prevent me from hitting anything, they just keep my hands and levers safe. Both bikes are set up primarily for dirt (although that is slowly changing on the KTM) and they sit up pretty high. I don't cut my bars down, either, so they're pretty wide.
I, too, have been crossing the bridge on the bike for 20 years, mostly on sportbikes and the SV, and the big difference I notice is the sheer volume of vehicles. It used to be if I went in at 5am I'd see 4 or 5 cars on the bridge, now it's packed regarless of time.
I must admit, after riding the KTM across the bridge, I was thinking of ditching the SV and going for a dropped XR650 or something similar. I like the vision a dirt bike affords and they are so much more comfortable for me.
