So I have a chance to get a really really good deal on a tunerless hdtv I think the brand name is overia? or something like that...anyways I dont have cable tv of any type and I dont plan on getting it because I barely watch tv. I just want to buy it to play with my ps3 but I also want to watch regular tv too.
My understanding is that I would need to buy a tuner? It seems silly to me that in order to buy this tv I would also have to purchase monthly cable and rent out a tuner from the provider. Is it possible to purchase a tuner for this tv to hook up an antenna?Any help would be appreciated...

what you have is a monitor, you will need a satellite receiver or a cable box to watch tv. you don't have to rent one, you can buy one for yourself. i have several used satellite boxes including a high def model.

Since you said you have some used ones, are you selling any hd ones you have?

they all look good if you are going for over the air hdtv. i don't think you can receive any kind of cable broadcast with these units. you will still need some sort of antenna (indoor or outdoor) to receive over the air hdtv. if you are using the tv mostly for ps3 high def playback you will be very happy. look into directv satellite broadcast of high def and standard def tv, excellent service.

Yea like I said before I barely watch tv so getting direct tv would be a waste. For the tuner I wish I could just go buy it locally instead of having to purchase it online because if things dont work out I wont be able to return it.
So I wonder will the basic antenna I have running throughout my whole house not be sufficient if im just trying to watch tv? And technically...wouldnt I be able to buy say a dvd player that already has a tuner built in and watch tv that way?
Sorry for the all the questions, im new to this hd stuff...thanks for the responses
Just for reference this is what im getting...

but at a much lower price ;)

you should be able to buy it locally, check best buy, circuit city etc..
not sure about the dvd player with a tuner built in, i wouldn't be surprised if there is something out there. as far as i know you have to have an antenna that is designed for hdtv reception. happy to help!:teeth
