I'm just about to pull the trigger for a 50" panasonic TH-50PX60U plasma. Was wondering on everyone's experiences / recommendations on where to buy? Circuit City no longer carries them for 1999.99; 6 ave electronics has the tv for 2038 but they have quite a few negative reviews over @ epinions & resellersratings for me to question their service. Buydig has them for 2087 but would like to know if anybody recently had a positive experience with another vendor w/ their plasma purchase.
Thanks

I bought our 42" Panny from PlasmaBay (http://www.plasmabay.com) about 2 years ago.
Very good service, fast, reliable shipping. The only thing swaying me from giving them 100% recommendation is that I haven't done business with them since, and don't know if their level of service has improved or degraded since my purchase.
They've got the TH-50PX60U for $1613 after MIR right now.

Shipping is $255 for the cheapest, which took them less than a week.
Good luck, and if you get it at that price I officially hate you, because that's only a couple hundred more than I paid for my 42" EDTV 2 years ago. :cry :twofinger

thx for the post insyder! I was aware that the $200 rebate was for installation fees only (i.e. $350 to mount the tv on its base? lol) So don't hate me yet!

LOL, that's the silliest rebate thing I've seen! On "installation fees?" Let's see, I've mounted a few plasmas already, do you want me to type up a "installation fee" invoice for you for $1? :laughing
This part of the rebate makes it comforting that you wont have to do anything special like getting someone to "install" it for you.
2. Return this completed form, along with a copy of your sales receipt with the purchase price circled and your installation/delivery receipt. IMPORTANT: You must cut out and include the original label from the Plasma HDTV carton, which includes the UPC code, model number and serial number, or your claim cannot be processed.Sounds to me like a shipping tag/delivery confirmation should suffice(?) :confused

If I didn't have one already, I'd be all over it!

He might want the "consumer" version with the built in tuners and stand, Robert.
PlasmaBay beats VisualApex pricing on this model too.

Only difference seems to be that VisualApex has a form for a 5 year manufacturers warranty! :wow If you can use that warranty form with PlasmaBay pricing.....

Yep, just checked Panny's site... 5 year warranty is direct from Panny, buy it whereever you want, the Pro model that is...

Good price but I don't see where they allow you to pick and choose add in cards for more inputs, such as HDMI. Perhaps you can call and request those modules be added before shipping?

I own the HP PL5000N which is an OEM Panny TH-50PX500U (last years model). Panny has held the reputation as having the best Blacks around and some of the most vivid colors (once you get everything properly adjusted). I can't say enough about the picture in HD. Be sure to get the Avia DVD and calibrate your set right out of the box to avoid burn-in. After approx. 100hrs of viewing you might also considder a professional calibration (around $400.00)
As RobertR1 pointed out you might want to consider the commercial version. The only downside is that the commercial version does not have speakers. But, hey, I have NEVER used the TV speakers anyhow--it all goes through the stereo. I believe the 50PX60U still comes with an HDMI 1.2 interface. Having modular input cards that you get with the commercial version -may- allow a simple upgrade to HDMI 1.3 when it becomes available thus future-proofing your investment.
I bought my set direct from HP with a friends employee discount. You might want to search around on www.avsforum.com for vendor recommendations.
