Count Jen and I in!
Although Jen is out for 1 week, maybe 2. She can't bend her right knee at all after her nasty fall during last lap at the Hollister National.
Tell Jen I hope she has a speedy recovery!! We'll wait for her:thumbup

count me in. sun(s) are better than sat(s) for me, but ask DanZX and he'll tell you I'm green, so hopefully it'll be novice to intermediate friendly.
we'll call it a biginner ride. We will just be going out to enjoy ourselves. A Sunday will probably be a better day for everybody, im sure!

PS to team Dirty BARF
I had the doc look at my leg today and he said all I tore was old scar tissue(note this is the same doc I have been seeing for 15 yrs. so he knows whatsup with me) The purple is going down I must have bashed the inner leg some how. must have been one of the trees. I also went to an acupuncture clinic to help with the muscle pulls BIG HELP!!! So with time off and good therapy I will be ready for March 3rd.
Does any one want to RACE:laughing :laughing :barf style

16th is cool with me, but it sounds like you should be taking it easy dan. You sure you'll be ok by then?
BTW, I can always pick you and your bike up on the way if your radiator isn't ready. My trailer'ing skills have greatly improved.

Jen and I will be at the Valentine Day Ride (http://www.dirtrider.net/forums3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63723) in Reno. Anybody else interested/coming?
As for the March 3rd race, I don't think we will be able to make it. We have the BARF GP (http://suzuki.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17588&highlight=karting) on March 2nd and the Wild Piglet (http://www.timekeepersmc.com/Events/index.html) Family Enduro in Clear Creek on March 8th...

I am in for the Dirt!!
I've got some kids that want to go also?? (They don't have to go on our rides, but as long as we go somewhere they can ride. momma can watch them)
I've been dying to go to Hollister, but would love to go to Carnegie with someone who knows the terrain, I went and stayed near the quad track.
We'll skip church if you wanna do a Sunday. Other than that, any Saturday is cool.
I'd be comin from Sac., so Hollister sounds better when we can camp overnight.

I would be interested in attending.
I will be in Reno over Valentines the same as Joe Bar, and since I am in Timekeepers i will be at Clear Creek 3/8&9 for the enduro.
Any other weekends & I will be there!
Now the question, where? So far I have read Hollister a few times, but no mention of Clear Creek, Stonyford, or Cow Mountian...

Hey John,
Are you the same Farmer John as the one on the DRN? Were you at the Clear creek New Years ride? Jen and I bailed out because of the weather (I am a wimp, I know and I don't care! :teeth :twofinger). I have been to Clear Creek only once and we got lost and ended up on HELL trails... On the other hand I loved Stonyford and Foresthill! They are just a bit far from San Jose... Hollister has some nice technical trails, if you look for them... ;)

Yes, one & the same.
But those are the good trails at the Creek. ;)
I just spent a year doing the Best in the Desert series. All the races were in Nevada, So Cal & Mexico. I now consider anything that doesn't involve going through Barstow as close. :teeth

I just might be riding a '90 XT600 within a few weeks, wooo wooo!
I've got almost no dirt seat time, but would like to ride with some BARFers willing to hand out advice and laugh at me.
What's a good intermediate road/dirt tire? I'll probably be using it more for Kings Mountain and Tinitas Creek than serious off roading.
Where else besides Hollister can you get in the dirt in the Bay Area?

Calvin: The DRZ is ready and waiting for you, your welcome to use it on this ride if you want to:thumbup

Were working on a date right now. Theres alot of BARFers that want to attend and it would be cool as hell if we could find a Sunday that EVERYBODY is free for.
How about Febuary 23rd or March 9th?? How do either of those dates work? There both Sundays...

Thanks, JoeBar.
Looks like the Santa Clara Motorcycle Park is the closest to SF.
Just got the XT parts together and gave it a lookover. The shock mount on the swingarm is hammered and will need some fixin'. Other than that, I could be riding this weekend if I can get the DMV taken care of. Wooo Woooo!

Um, so scratch my previous post about riding an XT600 this weekend.
Got it with a mystery motor... something wrong with the gearbox.
Just pulled it apart, and it had total and utter internal destruction. Piston failure, followed by much rod thrashing.
Problem with the gearbox was, the rod was wedged in the cylinder, thus no rotating shafts. :laughing It was free though, so no loss.
Still hope to catch a BARF dirt day. Just won't be happening soon...
Anyone got a spare XT or SRX-6 motor?

The sound test area is on the right side as you enter the park between the ranger station and the big parking area where we met during the last Doc Wong dirt clinic. It is actually the area we had to ride through to get to the place where we practiced the drills.

Hey Joe, Dr z, or Tical!!
I'm heading down towards Redwood City today to play on our 50's with some friends. We plan on spending the night somewhere between RWC and Hollister. Don't know any hotels/cities between there so I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction.??
I'm leaving Sac around 12:00 noon. So if you get this after that maybe one of you could call my cell and let me know??

Thanks a bunch!
Marco
Theres actually a few good hotels IN Hollister if you choose. San Jose is crammed full of them to. Or outside San Jo is Morgan Hill, then Gilroy after that.

Thanks to all for such a fun day. :teeth
Calvin you did great. You are a natural dirt rider. A few weekends on a dirtbike and you will be able to ride any trail! :thumbup
You're going to be so sore tomorrow Dude!!! :laughing
Ray your KX is SICK!!! I will call you DrKX now :laughing I could not beleive how light and powerful it is! I don't know how you can ride it in tight stuff. You barely touch the throttle and it instantly goes warp speed! On the hillclimb, it was begging to loop! And of course, when going down, absolutely no engine braking on the damn thing. :wow
It was great following you guys. You took a few trails that I did not know and that's always good fun.
I want to do it again soon!!! Hopefully Jennifer will be able to ride with us next time...
PS: Kali it was good to see you out there... ;)

Good to meet all you guys!
Sorry that I never got to go on a ride with you guys.
We finally got the kids tired about 2:30 and was ready for a good ride with you guys. Went back to the pits, only BADDAD was left and he was packing up. Oh well, next time I'll come solo and join ya. I'm in for another ride virtually any weekend or weekday for that matter.
I might start going to Metcalf Wed or Thurs after lunch as much as I can. Anyone else?

Man, I am never going to Metcalf again. Last time I went, I was like 'cool, small trails, I can get to know them quickly and push myself'. Well, I did, and I literally wore myself out picking up my bike, not to mention the damage to the bike and my knee :) Actually, I guess it's not Metcalf's fault, but that single track stuff, unghhhhh. I do think it was why I was sooo timid yesterday...still scar'd
It was great to meet everybody, as usual BARF people are as cool as they come. I will definately be at the next one.

Metcalf is open Thursday to Monday (closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays).
A few weeks ago, I loaded the bike, gear bag, etc... and drove up to Metcalf with a friend, Mick, on a Tuesday. The doors were closed we ended up chatting for an hour in front of the entrance and drove back home... :laughing
I will be up for a Thursday ride as soon as I loose my job ;)
Ive done the Tuesday off going riding at Metcalf thing before. You learn that lesson the FIRST time, believe me:laughing
