Is it possible to find out how you were DQ'd from the BG process? I asked my B.I., but she didn't give. I wanna know b/c if its big, then I wouldn't wanna waste my time continuing to apply else where.

Thoughts? comments?

Thanks

I'm in a similar state you're in, cept my backgrounder was vague and I got that it's something to do with my poly.

They aren't required to give you the information even if you ask. So yah, it's kinda hard to know what you need to fix about yourself if they don't let you know.

I can tell you, that is a tough one. I know people in your boat and it seems there is no resolution. I think others that have gone before us pretty much screwed it up.. by suing. I don't know anyone that actually WON one of those lawsuits, but I know it has agencies really gunshy about providing ANY information they are to legally obligated to disclose. As for the BI, it is of absolutely no benefit to them to risk the fallout that could come from providing the information you have requested.

That puts you in a bad position... being declared as unfit, without being told why. Every agency you apply to will ask where else you applied and if you were accepted and why and you can't give an answer, so they will have to contact them to get the answer.

And we all know pretexting them would be illegal. :angel

That makes sense. Would there be a way for me to sign a contract saying I won't sue them? I don't see myself as one of those "ones before us."

Take care!

They may not be worried about you suing them. You may want to sue a former employer for what they disclosed. You may want to sue the poly-tech, you may want to sue a neighbor that threw you down. Whomever torpedoed you, they may well have promised them confidentiallity. In any case, there is no benefit to the agency to disclose the information to you.

OTOH, if another agency were to contact them, either formally or informally, they would likely disclose it in confidence. If you know someone that does backgrounds for any agency or other employer that may do security backgrounds, they could probably turn a few stones on your behalf. I don't know what they may turn up. I guess you have to weigh the best and least possible benefit vs. the worst possible consequence and proceed accordingly.
