Ok, so browse.dll is missing or something on my laptop.

I'd like to try and fix it without reinstalling windows xp. Since it was just installed a week ago and pretty much has a clean hard drive.

Here's what I installed, then I rebooted and got the error:

FireFox
AIM 6.0
YIM

Now, I tried to reboot in safe mode and that got me nowhere. The screen just is solid black with the "safe mode" tags in the four corners of the screen. I can however get cntrl alt delete to bring up the task manager.

I did find this thread:
http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/243139/an/0/page/20

Seems pretty useful. But I'm still skeptical. Anyone else have this problem and solve it? TIA.

I'm really glad it worked out for you. I have had so little luck fixing corrupted Windows installs that I'd about given up hope. Carry on.
