Right. So BARFers, let's get a long one day ride together and *NOT* do the Loop for a change.

I ain't going to your ride. Why? Because I'm doing another T-Hill trackday on the 7th and don't want to trash a set of race-compound Michelins.
If anything you should drag your ass up there someday, if the Whip would let you off the leash that is. :rolleyes No wonder you're old and slow...:P :laughing

The way you ride, you would barely "scrub" them in on Mines road.
Trash! Baaaawaaahaaaheeee!!!
The only trashing you'll be doing, is trash talk'in.

If you guys want to do a long ride, may I suggest south to hwy 25 past Hollister, towards the Pinnicles, east past Clear Creek (Idria), then out to Coalinga, gas up, lunch, turn around, go back same way.
Awesome!!!
There is a straight section in the middle of nowhere, wher you can open it up. I mean "wide open"

You do that.
Because the CHP knows about it, and are staking it out now.
We were warned of it before our 600 mile ride by posts on numerous posts on ba.motorcycles. On rider noted how he witnessed how another rider apparently won a nice new set of steel bracelets for his antics of the day.
We were warned of it again leaving the Texaco in Hollister by a GSX-R1000 rider who frequents the area.
Our group broke in half at the halfway point. Half of the guys went back on Highway 25, not paying heed to the warnings. The other half took the scenic route home.
Guess which half the guy in this picture was:

You want top speed? I suggest you go to Willow Springs.
It's on you.

Hwy25 is bad mojo by all accounts...
But why 25 when we could all go north to the Holy Land? Skaggington International Speedway!
Skaggs Springs (http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/SkaggsSpringRd.htm)
Granted, you still gotta slow down at the very end of Skaggington International Speedway, as there are sometimes cops trolling around there-- supposedly they're never around the "speedway" proper.
I'm thinking that in a week's time-- say, Sunday the 28th-- we can make such a run. Hopefully the weather up there will be nice.

From the link you just shared:
Dale Ciao sent me this email: "I live 10 miles from Dry Creek Road and have been riding Skaggs Spring road almost every Sunday for the past six years and enjoyed your write up. We all refer to it as The Holy Land.
Unfortunately, things have changed.
A lot of novice, or just stupid, riders have come from all over the place and too many of them have been Helicoptered out. Then, according to a CHP officer, someone posted on the net that there were 'timed laps' and races. So the CHP have been out in force (CHP at the end near the first boat ramp and by the bridge) as well as using a helicopter to spot speeders. As you know it is a posted 30, so most tickets are really ugly!
They've come out before but usually only for a weekend or two after a big crash, but this summer of 2001 has been different. I'm not saying to update your sight report, but tell your friends - you can't count on a CHP free experience anymore."

I've been stopped there myself for doing 55 on a posted 30 (I got really lucky and talked my way out of it). The speed limit is ridiculously low on that road, even worse than the 25 mph posted limit on Redwood. 30 mph is a speed that a mediocre rider could do the whole road at, with a linebacker sized passenger *ahemMORTHRANE* and one hand on the bars.
It's a great ride, but not the place you want to go if you're looking to push your limits or otherwise fulfill your racerboy fantasies. Not that public roads anywhere are a good idea for that, but anyone who still tries that after it's KNOWN that the CHP stakes the area out is just really lacking in the common sense department.

Sounds fun; I wish I could go. But I need new tires, and have not money for them. And the 28th is my anniversary. I guess that means we gotta observe some sort of ritual that day. Feh.
Oh well, at least I'll be spared the humiliation of having you and MrCrash leave my ass in the dust in less than 5 minutes.

I agree, it's a fun road even if you don't uncork it on the straights. The road has great flow to it, I love roads like that. Hairpins are fun in their own way, but the tend to disrupt any sort of flow / rhythm I have going.
Interestingly enough, rumor has it that it was the Porsche Club of America that attracted most of the negative attention to this road?
