Looks like he's done more than his fair share of hunting, also a bunch in Africa. Fun stuff.

SWEET!!! looks more like a museum. for those that don't know he prolly has close to 100,000 in taxidermy there. Where does he live?

Damn.

So I'm far from an animal rights freak, and I'm definitely not anti-hunting, but am I the only one who finds taxidermy really fucking creepy?

My brother's got some antlers mounted from various deer he's bagged and I have no problem with those, but there's something about an entire deer noggin (or a whole deer!) staring back at me that I find weird as hell.

Maybe it was too many trips to Chuck E. Cheese as a kid.

That's an awesome room. Are all the full sized animals real? Looks like a lot of time spent on a life obsession.

When I lived in France, I was friends with one of the top taxidermists in the country. It was really creepy in a fascinating way, walking around his shop with all the stuffed animals, half-stuffed works in progress, and bins full of eyeballs, teeth, and other body parts.

It's the sort of place I'd avoid at night.

Yes everything in there was alive at one point and the place is on the Ranch I grew up on in Oregon.

You kind of expect them to start moving and saying something to you... perhaps singing a song.

The thing that made it extra creepy at Chuck E Cheese was that the animatronics were really bad... you could hear the clicking as they moved about, and it was all jerky and weird.... kinda like the girl from The Ring.

I'm going to go crawl under my covers now... :cry

That's pretty sweet! My uncle is a big time hunter and I used to live with him and my grandma in high school. He has upwards of 100 heads mounted on the walls of his house. Front room, living room, stairway, dinning room, hallways. Everywhere. Even one of the upstairs bedrooms had nothing but a bed and elk heads. Everything from Black tail to white tail, Mule deer to elk, Caribu (sp?) Big horn sheep. He even has a life size Alaskan kodiak grizzly. It was always funny to see peoples reactions when they came to the house for the first time. And I'll never forget some of the shroom party's we had while they were away. Neither will my friends LOL

If you ever get to Reno, check out the Wilbur May museum. Its kinda out of place in Reno, and tucked away in Rancho San Raphel Park. May was an avid outdoorsman of the old school, and the collection of African game is staggering. Really a pretty cool little stop, with a great park for the kiddies.

Nice collection indeed.

My Aunt is a taxadermist (sp?) and safari hunter and they own a butcher shop in Jackson. Anyways, when you walk in that place there are trophies EVERYWHERE. She has some Gazelle, a Bison and a fucking ZEBRA in there!

It's called Swingle's Meats, if you're ever over there and wanna check it out.

Very nice. Beautiful animals and a spectacular game room. I've love to see it in person, what a treat that would be.

Oregon I think is ok with cougars. You should ask him about the kitties and see if he's getting one of those. Or how about a black bear?

Incredible.

1fastf4i - would they do a black bear mount for a decent price? If so, I'll need to get in touch with them. Cheers.

I cant count how many cougers we have killed over the years. they are a problem animal now and there is a anitative on the books to put a bounty on them again. They are killing the deer populaton and also the dogs and cats in the city's.

Nice room. but really it's the stories and memories those mounts evoke for the hunter that really bring them back to life.

make sure he writes down his hunts, I have a friend who puts together a small booklet with photos about his african hunts(6 so far), and he mails them out to all his hunting buddies. he has his mounts in his home and office, he says he gets varied responces from passerby at his office due to the mounts being visible to the public.

mine hang in the living room, nothing creepy about them.:angel

She's done bears before, but I have no idea how much something like that would cost.

Reminds me of my cousins grandpa who has a room like that I used to play in when younger..

He has:
1. Kodiak Bear
2. Brown Bear
3. Black Bear
4. African Elephant
5. Cheetah (which are ultra rare and not allowed to be hunted anymore if not mistaken?)
6. Various Deer
7. Boars
8. Male Lion
9. Moose

Pretty fucking unreal collection. Especially since they are all full size, not heads on walls. The kodiak standing up is fucking nuts. Black bear is tiny compared to it.

Your uncle has a good start, needs to stray away from deer. They seem pretty boring to me frankly since they pose no real threat to the hunter..

Anyway, thanks for sharing.
