Please help me play AVI files

i downloaded a movie on limewire (.avi) file...

now i can't play it... the closest i get to it is on windows media player but it just plays audio... i tryied irfanview, realplayer and quick time also,,, i downloaded the alpha 3.11 divx decoder installed it on the computer and still didnt work...

anyone has any idea what kind of player i could get that would play this file, and where to get it ??

That particular .avi could be using some CODEC that you don't have. Without that CODEC, you wouldn't be able to view it no matter what software you use.

That's why VLC is awesome - it has a grip prepackaged
