Description:
A HS diploma +12 years of experience related to the support of computer-based systems to include experience implementing/operating LAN/WAN systems, architectures, and interface equipment This position will require some work to be performed in Contra Costa County and the position could possibly move there in the future. The ideal candidate will provide on-site technical and operational support in the operation and maintenance of telecommunications and special purpose computer-based client server systems and equipment, including LAN/WAN equipment (routers, bridges, hubs, etc) located at the customer facility in San Fransisco, CA AND/OR Contra Costa County. Must be capable of analyzing complex hardware and software malfunctions in operational Solaris and Windows-based systems and special purpose equipment. Will determine and implement both hardware and software repair solutions. Will consult with company engineering personnel to determine solutions to unusual problems in system operation and maintenance. Trains customer personnel in the operation of client side equipment and systems. Modifies existing and/or develops new applications for existing computer systems. Superior interpersonal skills are required for daily interface with customer management, technical and operational personnel. Job will require 10% travel.

*BS + 8 years experience
*HS diploma +12 years related experience
*Experience in implementing/operating LAN/WAN systems, architectures, and interface equipment
*An understanding of telephony, facsimile, and modem signaling characteristics
*Experience implementing, operating, administering and maintaining client server systems containing multiple servers, RAIDs, Jukeboxes and special purpose processors and equipment
*Understanding of programming and database principles and implementations
*Excellent verbal and written communication and personal interface skills
# Prefer the following:
*BS Degree with an emphasis in Information Systems/Computer Science + 8 years of related experience
*High speed Ethernet and CISCO router experience particularly desirable
*Specific experience in telephony, facsimile, and modem signaling a definite plus
*Specific experience operating Solaris UNIX-based and Windows-based client server systems
*Experience writing and implementing computer programs and developing databases
