I should have posted earlier, but yes of course there will be one this Friday January 26th 7pm. Usual meeting spot which is Marina Green...or the absolute end of Scott street.

Last months route was super fun, maybe we'll try and do the same, or take suggestions. I'll bring a camera again...hopefully cold doesnt keep people away, though Ive noticed that since we started in Sep, every month less people show up...oh well.

Rayman

unless it rains, im down, i ride the cold all the damn time, its not gonna stop me :laughing

so, wats it gonna be? end of scott or marina green?
i got a couple of guys from marin heading south. this should be fun.

Raw

I believe the end of Scott is considered Marina Green.
Anyhow, heres the link:
http://maps.yahoo.com/index.php#mvt=m&q1=3900%20Scott%20St,%20San%20Francisco,%20CA%2094 117&trf=0&lon=-122.442091&lat=37.805885&mag=3

I believe the physical address is:

3900 Scott St, San Francisco, CA 94117

Be there at 7:00 SHARP! We try to leave by 7:15. I showed up 10 min too late one time and missed EVERYONE.

Be on the lookout for a dark parking lot where Cdgskater should have his nice bright headlights on. You won’t see mine because I killed my battery last time and needed a BARF push start to get going. :shhh

BTW, Thanks for the push guys! ;)

Whats the "usual route" for this ride and how long do you guys go for??

Cdgskater
01-23-2007, 08:02 PM
Well it varies slightly...but start @ Marina, make our way to broadway through the tunnel down to embarcadero, past the giants park and the big empty lots. Up valencia to market to Twin Peaks lookout point. After that we make a decision...last month we went to Legion of Honour. Usually go for a couple of hours, maybe food or a quick drink after...depending on how many people show

joeh
01-24-2007, 12:11 AM
what pace is this ride?

Cdgskater
01-24-2007, 10:59 AM
Depends on the traffic around us! But we always stop and wait for people who get caught at lights and stop signs...slow pace till we get to the fun part on upper market

Sevenfifty
01-24-2007, 01:17 PM
I'm gonna try to make it. Get off work at 630 so shouldnt be a problem

Rayman
01-24-2007, 02:15 PM
might also want to mention if we'll split traffic or not.....i dont have a problem w/ it but some might :D

Bellr6
01-24-2007, 02:17 PM
The ride sounds great! I'm very new to SF so I'm a little intemidated by stoping in the uphill direction of steep hills. Are there many steep hills in this ride?

We usually don't however the size of our group really makes a deference.

If it were say, 4 or 5 of us then lane splitting wouldn't be too hard.

However if there are about 15+ then that can get a little hectic. In that situation, we'd need a sweeper to step in and hold traffic as we pass an intersection.

I'll check with Cdgskater. If he's leading then maybe I'll step in and sweep.

Sounds like you're quite new to riding in general if you can't stop on a hill.

We usually don't have too many hill stops, however, if something like that has you worried, then maybe you should save the group rides for when you're a little more comfortable on your bike. Or least when we have a Noob Friendly Day time ride.

I don't want to discourage you from coming out, but then again I don't wanna see a rookie getting hurt trying to keep up with a more experienced rider. What ever you decide, make sure you ride at your own pace. We're not here to show off. And no one will laugh if you stall your bike. Just take it slow and have fun.

Cdgskater
01-24-2007, 04:24 PM
I dont usually lead, I will if I have to...Aaron has in the past....or maybe Jeff if he shows

Rayman
01-24-2007, 11:18 PM
i'll help sweep if it really gets that big. im familiar with the city and the routes, but last time i led i lost too many people, either i was going too fast (which i know wasnt the case) or i was going too far :cry i is teh suck :(

like the other guy said, most of the ride will not be on hills, and the few places where we do hit hills dont really have stops, except maybe on upper market where u might hit the stop lights, other than that, i dont see where it might become a problem.

i would also suggest get more comfortable before coming out....however, the hills arent difficult, just go out the next couple days and practice where there arent many traffic, like in neighborhoods around lafayette park, potrero hill, alamo square etc. nothing a few hours of practicing and a few stall outs wont fix ;) thats what i did when i 1st moved out here, went out middle of the night a couple times and just practiced, its nothing once u figure out where ur friction point is.

do motorcycles cross free on the bay bridge? or do i need to have someone on the back?

Raw

gotta pay 3 bucks like everyone else bro.

Just come down. We'll go stunt after, lol. ;)

Rayman
01-25-2007, 12:42 PM
isnt it 4 bucks now? or do they still have that $1 discount for the carpool?

ghale555
01-25-2007, 01:55 PM
I'm not sure about the bay bridge, but on the GG bridge its toll free during car pool hours. You don't need to have passenger for carpool on motorcycles.

ghale555
01-25-2007, 02:00 PM
All riders heading from the north to the monthly city ride:

Meet at Shell Gas Station (next to United Market) between 2nd & 3rd St in San Rafael around 6pm
Leave San Rafael around 6:15'ish
See ya all.
Peace.

Rayman
01-25-2007, 04:03 PM
yea BB is the same, so those guys should be OK, carpool hours till 7pm i think

rktitan, I usually time it so that I head to the city during carpool hours and just ride thru. Lots of lane splitting toward the tunnel, and the toll.. If I go, we could hook up somewhere..I'll PM you if I do

rktitan
01-25-2007, 07:00 PM
nomoduc, you should come. ill be going if it doesnt rain. as for the bridge, i looked on the internet and it said motorcycles can go if they have a passenger. does anyone know for sure? ok late

Rayman
01-25-2007, 07:54 PM
u can go thru carpool lane solo during those hrs and not pay toll

Sevenfifty
01-25-2007, 10:39 PM
carpool hours end at 6pm...so the toll will prob apply

01-26-2007, 01:35 PM
Is the ride still 'on' if it starts raining?
How many riders gonna show up if it does rain?

Cdgskater
01-26-2007, 02:00 PM
I don't really want to ride in the rain

Raw
01-26-2007, 02:43 PM
I rode into work today and so far it's been off and on drizzle.

I'm still in, if it stays light like this. However I'm not going out there alone. Is anyone else up for a rain ride?

Rayman
01-26-2007, 03:01 PM
i just poked my head out the window and its pretty damn wet everywhere.....i'll go if other people go.....

Cdgskater
01-26-2007, 04:31 PM
This ride seems to be fizzling...i'll check back around 6pm to see what people are saying and make my decision then...i dont mind the cold, but hate the rain

Rayman
01-26-2007, 04:49 PM
well i got rain gear if this goes down, but i want to have at least like 4-5 people before i go "chill"

Raw
01-26-2007, 04:55 PM
I with you guys. If it's pooring around 6:00 and everyone is gonna pass. Then I won't go.

However if it lightens up little (which it should) and a couple of people are still down then I'm in.

Lets all try to report back around 6:00 or so.

rktitan
01-26-2007, 05:01 PM
ya im def not going if its raining. id rather just save my energy and fun for another time.

ghale555
01-26-2007, 05:09 PM
Hey all
If its just a slight drizzle, then my friends and i will be rolling down to the city for the ride. However, if it is pouring "rain", then we wont be coming.
My cell# is 469-878-1142.
Give me a call by 6:15pm to confirm if we'll be coming or not.
btw, can those riders wanting to ride in the drizzle throw in ur cell phone #'s, so that i can call ya before we head down to the city.
Thanx. Peace.

well i for one say LETS DO THIS.....its not gonna get any dryer or wetter, looks like it'll just stay gloomy and cold....so lets all just dress warm, and just go cruise at a nice and easy pace for a bit. ive been waiting for this ride for a month. i'll just throw on my warmer rain gear instead of leathers. i think it'll be fun as long as everyone be careful of the wet condition, and let me reiterate....DRESS WARM!!!! this moisture will go right thru ur clothes, LAYERS LAYERS LAYERS :D

704-502-6398 is my cell....unless i see a sudden change in weather or sudden CONFIRMED decline of attendance, them im gonna be waiting at the marina greens. hope to see u guys there

petehed
01-26-2007, 05:58 PM
I, for one, shall bow out... I hate, hate, hate the rain and wet.
But for those of you hardier than I, you have my admiration... ride safe out there :thumbup

Raw
01-26-2007, 06:04 PM
If you're in.

Them I'm in.

It's 5:00 now and I just walked out side. It's wet out but I only feel a light misty drizzle. No rain drops.

I'll man it up and dress warm. I've been looking foward to this ride as well and I'm not gonna let a little mist stop me. Just gotta take it easy and ride smooth.

ghale555
01-26-2007, 06:09 PM
Same here. I've been lookin forward to this ride for 2 months coz someone stole my bike keys, chain keys, & alarm pager right before the previous monthly ride.
See ya.

Oh well, have a safe ride guys. And watch out for slick roads, I saw some soccer moms in a fender bender on my way home. Be careful.

nomoduc
01-26-2007, 09:40 PM
Wow it was wet there? I always want to go, but I have to think about it more before I say I'm going. If I do go, then I have to cut out after Twin Peaks usually to go straight to work. It's too damn cold riding home from the airport at 630 in the mornings.. Maybe for you guys that live in the City it's not so big a deal. I noticed you guys are always in jeans when we meet up. Too cold.. I paid my dues riding in nasty cold n wet weather from Vtown to Sac for years. Never again I said!! Well I hope you all rode safe . Post pics.

Lynn

Yea, although the drizzle really died, the roads were still real wet and slick.

You should have came out man, it wasn't too cold at all. I was sweating.

I wore a full leather one piece with jeans over that and two sweat shirts.

When I stopped to get gas I had to take off one layer just to cool off a little. Maybe I'm use to it, but I don't sweat the cold that much.

Rayman
01-26-2007, 11:18 PM
damn dude.....we left b/t 715-720....mustve just missed u, we waited, we thought u said u were coming....

it was fun, didnt ride long, we thru broadway to embarcadero then up market and to twin peaks.....then a couple guys bailed and 4 yamaha guys went to hooters at the wharf.

lets hope next month is dry so we can ride longer :D

Rayman
01-26-2007, 11:20 PM
i stayed nice and toasty....actually got a lil hot later in the ride, cuz it felt like the temp actually warmed up, i guess cuz the fog cleared a lil so its not as wet. i had my wind/rain proof textile gear, w/ sweat pants underneath down low, and a fleece jacket, 2 long sleeves and 1 tee up top...WITH neckwarmer, balaclava, and glove liner, tho i didnt wear any of that by the end...overkill? perhaps, but rather be a lil hot standing around then shivering while riding

I was going to do an honorary ride last Friday night, but it's a tad-bit snowy over here.
