Any of you :barf ers going?

I'm still not 100% sure if I'm going to sign up, but if someone from the South Bay is going and has room in a pick-up/trailer, that might convince me :teeth

So who all is going? What's the carpool situation look like?

Welllll... about half the Zoom Zoom staff are regular BARFers... does that count? :laughing

if any of them has extra room in their pickup/trailer it counts :thumbup

Does registration tend to fill up right before the school, or is it looking to not be a packed event?

what exactly does the school go over those two days? I know someone who is going and im very interested so if anyone has info please let me know

I can't remember all of what we went over, but the drill that helped me the most was the body positioning.

We did a passing drill, some line drills.

The way it is set up, they have watchers at the flag stands and they radio in their advice. They also have instructors on the track to have you follow them.

Since they run half the track, you get 8-10 laps on the front and then switch to the back and get 8-10 laps there(or vice versa). Each intermediate or novice school is broken into A and B groups (not by skill, just by letter) and they alternate between the front and the back of the track. Then you go inside and learn what you are going to do next and go out and do it.

At the end of day one, they had a suspension basics with Phil from aftershocks that would be interesting to those who haven't read Jahne's books or gone to the doc wong free suspension clinics. I do recall learning something new there as well, but I run all my suspension questions by Dave Moss and rely on his expertise to make my bike handle it's best.

I would love to go, but I dont have the funds right now...
I plan to go on June 9....

Thanks for the heads up

There was also a trail braking drill and for a moment there, I thought I remembered another one. should have taken better notes.

All right! I'm in! :thumbup

Anybody here that is going and have room in their trailer/truck for an extra bike? I'll pay for gas&:Port Don't particularly want to go rent a trailer if I don't have to:toothless

The thing to remember about this event is that it's a full-on intensive classroom and drill-based school. There will be some open track time at the end of each day but the majority of the time will be spent either in the classroom or on the track working on specific skills with LOTS of instant feedback.

There are two schools running at the same time: a Novice School and an Intermediate School. One is on the track while the other is in the classroom. Each school is broken into two arbitrary groups. For example, when the Novice School is on the track, half the students will do their drills on the front part of the track and half will do their drills on the back half of the track. After a certain amount of time, the groups switch sides and run through the same or different drills again. This is an excellent method for teaching because it allows students to focus on the particular skill being taught that sessions instead of worrying about navigating the entire track. Also, when the sides switch, students will still be applying the same skill with an entirely new set of turns and circumstances. This method allows for a great balance of track conditions vs. concentration and focus.

All the while, we'll have instructors on the course with you as well as instructors sitting in the corners with radios sending back specific feedback about each student. That feedback is relayed to the student on the next lap so everybody gets instant feedback on the drill they're working on.

Don't wait 'till the last minute to sign up. Our Two Day School is a screaming deal, always popular and it's a great event. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi David,

Are any of my ten pack tickets available for use for the Intermediate School in February? I'd love to check out your school!

Hey Christie! Yep, you can use your tickets for the Two Day School. You have two options:
Option 1: Use 3 tickets for the school. Since you have a ten-pack, that would make the school $448.50 (based on the ten-pack price of $1495). So for three tickets, you get the school for more than $50 off the regular price.
Option 2: Use 2 tickets + $150. That would make the total price 50 cents more but it will allow you to use that third ticket for another event later on.

Up to you. If you want to do the two tickets plus cash option, let me know (offline) so I can get it all set up.

See you there!

Are we still on in the rain? Going in and out of the rain all day will be FUN!!!!! ......maybe...... not.....

Ye of little faith! There won't be any rain.

p.s. We're still on in the non-existant rain.

I guess in a "conquer my fears" kind of way the rain would be good, since I crashed on wet pavement back in Dec and it will def help bring my confidence in the wet back. But on the other hand, I could be put-putting around the track at 20 mph too :laughing

But I am praying for rain as well! (and if the forecast still looks bad next week, I might have to sacrifice a chicken to the gods or something :teeth )

If anyone needs a ride from San Jose, Palo Alto or anywhere in between, feel free to PM me.

David, maybe this is a basic skill I should have learned ages ago, but do you know if we'll be covering how to blip the throttle on downshift, as well as finding the best gear to be in for the best possible drive out of a corner? Thanks!

Hey Christie, your avatar looks like a girl I went to high school with, in 1962 :laughing
