Next week Costco is having a sale on their 100 pack printable DVD's. Has anyone used them. I've read that the -R's are decent as they are made in Japan, but the +r's are junk and produced by a crappy manufacturer.

I've never used TDK media, just Verbatim. But at $19.99 for 100 its tempting.

You wouldn't happen to know the manufacturer ID on the disc? Would appreciate the info if you can get it.

I've just started using printable DVD's and I bought some Maxells, as they didn't have verbatims. I've already had 3 disc failures. I only had 2 disc failures out of 200 verbatims and 1 was due to software error.

Thanks

So I bought a spindle of 100 printable TDK DVD-R's for $19.99 at Costco.

So far, these the suck. I have burned 12 discs. 5 are playable and ok; 5 got burned but were not playable; 1 got burned but had a lot of stuttering; and 1 was thrown out immediately as it could not be read by the drive.

Needless to say I am going to return the spindle and go back to Verbatims. Out of 200 verbatims I've used, I only lost 2 discs.

Weird. I've used 1.5 spindles of the TDK +rs from Costco and have not had a bad disc yet. Maybe it's a compatability problem with your burner.

Not a burner or software issue.

TDK's were really good discs at one time, but they switched manufacturers over the last few months and it seems the quality is spotty.

From my understanding, many of their discs are now manufactured in India. Unfortunately, their quality standards are not on par yet, as the company that makes them is fairly new. The other company they use in Taiwan has an awful reputation.

Unfortunately, their good discs, that are manufactured in Japan are for the Japanese market only.

I'll stick with verbatims or taiyo's.

Also, there were many "spots" on the discs. That is usually a sign of bad gluing between the layers.
