i just noticed that my gixer makes this really annoying "beeeeeep"
after ive turned it off and taken the key out. i checked to make sure everything was off and that no electrical stuff was left on. it goes off at intervals-10 seconds of a long beep(like when car doors are left open) and then stops for a bit then goes off again-over and over. any idea what it could be?
i dont have a headlught hooked right now or any front turn signals-could it have something to do with that?

It's the gas tank. The exhaust vents get kinked and backed up, so they whistle.

it doesnt sound like a whistle at all though. its like an electronic beep. the closest thing ive heard to it is an cars from the 90's that made a beep when you left the door open or the keys in the ignition after turning it off.
but ...maybe you're right. it did stop once when i shook it and made the gas slosh around in the tank. but it wasnt a wind or gas passing through an air vent or hole sound...its electronic sounding and it goes on and off at intervals ---a few sedconds of beep then silence, then the beep then silence etc.

I know it doesn't seem like a whistle. Confused the shiot outta me when I had my first GSXR back in 02.
Next time, pop the gas cap and you'll hear it go "Fwwwwpop!"
It may start up again after you close it.

It's the seat belt buzzer, letting you know to put the belt on.

Try disconnecting the horn.... Seriously. Maybe you've got some odd electrical gremlin allowing a low signal to the horn.

i'll be damned. you were right! it did it again while i was working on it. so i put my ear up to the gas cap and the sound was comming from there. wierd. you nailed it though. at least i know what it is now. thanks
I'm glad you posted this problem w/ your gixxer. Mine has been making the exact same noise and its been driving me nutz. Sometimes I end up kinda shaking the bike to make it stop. It didn't really sound like a whistle though but I will pay attention next time.
